What shock is that? Is it designed for the extra lift?

Yeah my guess is you hit a speed bump too hard and topped the rear shocks out. They're designed for up to 1 inch of rear lift, but you can also get shaft extensions so that you don't ruin another set if you want to stick with the 5100s in the rear. I saw them on bilsteinlifts.com for like $40 I think.

The upside to 5100s is that at least they're cheap and easy to replace

It’s leaking on the driver side, and noticed since last summer that it’s been sitting lower on the driver side. Would that cause it? I do have the spacer for the taco lean installed.

Shocks themselves don't usually cause lean, that's a spring thing since the springs actually hold your truck up. But maybe with the lower volume of oil it could.

    That's where you screwed up.

You need to get shocks that which have good extended and collapsed numbers which match YOUR specific lift.

At 2.5" of additional lift in the rear you may have to go different brand.

In 2018, my truck failed state inspection as I had a severe leak (whole lower shock covered in black fluid & dirt) on rear 5100 with just under 10K miles. Sent it back to the retailer and they in turn sent it back to Bilstein. They said the leak was normal and would not replace under warranty.

Took the other rear off and replaced both rears with OME Sport Nitrochargers. I like those much better and have experienced no issues with them.

Different brand doesn’t bug me at all. I have noticed when I do hit bumps, it’s harsh...always thought it was the AAL and 1” blocks...lol

I've think I read somewhere that theres been a lot of 5100's rear shocks springing leaks, more so than the 4600's for some reason
