Just wondering when some of you replaced shocks due to wear and tear. I have 145,000 miles on the truck and I'm thinking I'm ready to replace. Seems to be riding a little rough.....Not really asking about mods or upgrades.

    Thanks in advance

Well I purchased my Taco with 102,xxx on the clock and now I'm sitting at around 108,xxx. It's a sport so it's the upgraded shocks if that means anything to you. So far I have no complains on how it drives, only noise that ever came from them or the leafs were when the truck was full flex on a trail run. That being said, I will be replacing the entire suspension system once I have the funds.

Someone can prove me wrong, but typically aftermarket parts are cheaper than OEM. You might not need a lift, but it might also be cheaper to go with the 5100s all the way around and you could level the front with then vs buying all 4 OEM shocks.

Def depends on what suspension you get. I think my front end suspension easily is about 3x more than stock.

Long Travel with Kings is a long way from OEM or 5100s lol

Right, I think the consesus on here is that 5100s are better than the stock shocks, and even the stock TRD shocks (4600s?).

I just wanted to point out that the OP could probably get 5100s for cheaper than stock and also level the front if he wanted.

I agree man, they are a solid shock option for the all around commuter. Coils arnt bad if he wants to push the ride a little off road.

Mine were done at 50K miles. I bought the truck new. I can't imagine putting over 100K on stock shocks.

Yeah I'm not sure why I've neglected dealing with this. I'm pretty anal when it comes to maintenance but this slipped my mind. Now that I'm paying attention I can really see how bad my originals are at 146,000 miles. The truck takes the bumps hard and really rocks when I'm turning in intersections etc...

I just bought OEM shocks...I like to keep things simple and stock parts seems to work for me...thanks for the info guys
