    I had a Cravenspeed shorty antenna. It looked nice and was never a problem in a car wash. It did get NO reception at all, but I have no desire to listen to terrestrial radio anyway so that didn't matter.

    I came out to the truck at PetSmart one day and it was gone! I thought about buying a new one, but then thoughts of what I would have done to the little punk who stole it flashed in my head. I decided to just live with the factory one - and avoid jail time for battery if I caught the next guy trying to steal it!

    I would recommend Loctite if you do get one.

    Good idea about the Loctite, I wouldn't have thought about that... That is part of the reason I went with AnntenX, they look more stock (still 13" long and no fancy carbon fiber or color matching) and I want good reception. I wouldn't even think about replacing my stock one except it hits every concrete beam in the parking garage at work. Sooner or later my stock one is just going to break!

    Would the antenna x ones survive an automatic carwash? I don't take it often, but sometimes I'm in a rush and have no choice. Just want to know before I go locktite on it.

    the last truck i had, nissan titan, i went to a stubby antenna
    that was about 10", reception never changed for any station.

    PUGGA , Antenna sits like this .It came with a few other bases that screw on .This is what fit. It is good and tight and I have no problems .

    That's why I asked for pics of it. I had the same gap on mine and wanted to make sure I installed it correctly. Looking at other threads, Lynyrd's installation is correct and that's the way it's intended to look.

    Just chop ur stocker and put a "cap" of some kind on it, I used a wire nut.
