I'm thinking of converting my DCLB into an El Camino by hacking the roof off right behing the front seats .

How much will that cost ?

Get frame from DCLB taco, long bed, driveshaft from DCLB taco and extend few lines. If you can source parts for cheap and do your own work, its doable, if not you will be much better off trading the truck in and getting dclb.

IMHO the best taco is Access cab 4x4 with trd off road package...

 

I think they make a blue pill for that

You can't get TRD off road package with the 2.7L... Besides all those people liking the 2.7L are in deep denial... 4.0L is awesome!

The guy that owns justdifferentials.com has a custom dc lb tundra. Extended the frame and swapped the bed. I know this is an old thread, but it's still relevant for those of us needing a bit more room in back. You could always look at a trayback ute conversion like they do in Australia. A friend of mine did that with her Navarra (Frontier) and picked up so much extra space that her entire old styleside bed fit inside the new aluminum flatbed tray.

That Ute bed is pricy. One dealer told me $5,000 installed, probably because they're imported from Australia. The Aluma is much cheaper and made in the USA.

 

That's why I said "among others'. There are more options than just that one. that just helped me get the idea across.

I do like how the sides fold up and form somewhat of a tub yet drop to make a flatbed or can be replaced by a stakebed in case you need to haul some of your goats etc.

 

I will have a 2013 double cab long bed frame for sale in the next few weeks..
