Last truck was DCSB but needed the extra space in the bed so went with the standard bed this time. Also opted to go access cab this time since I don't have many adult passengers or the need for a full back seat. I never thought an extra foot of bed space would make much of a difference until I had it...couldn't imagine going back to the SB again. To each his own, but the longer bed suits my needs best.

Purchased a DCSB TRD OffRoad back in February. I really liked the Off Road package and decided on that instead of the longbed Sport. If I were to do it al over again I would select the Longbed Sport. There have been a couple of times where I would have liked the extra foot of bedspace. I wont make that same mistake next time.

Shortbed, based on looks and agility. I never minded leaving the tailgate down to fit my KTM. The shorter wheelbase is better for off-roading as well. Slightly less likely to get hung up on obstacles.

I'll bet the Long bed tracks straighter in the snow, though.

I'd be interested to see the front/rear weight ratios on the SB versus the LB. Obviously closer to 50/50 on the SB, but how much closer, I don't know? Are those specs floating around out there?

I had an '03 AC 6' bed and loved the fact that I could sleep in it. My new 2012 DC has a shortbed, and I can barely fit laying down diagonal. With a cap and the tailgate down, it'll be fine, but it was the only 2012 left and I got a good deal. Would prefer the 6' bed, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

I bought a 2012 Long bed. I honestly wanted a short bed but I was able to get my 2012 used at the dealership with low miles and a great deal.

Now that I have it I really enjoy it. It's one of those you will use it if you have it type deals.

I like the long bed on these trucks, 8 ft pieces of lumber fit perfectly with the tailgate down.

After living with a 4 foot box in a Sport Trac for 5 years and camping in northern BC every summer I had to have the LB. Storage is an issue for me and I probably won't do any serious 4 wheeling.

Short looks good, but I've heard it's difficult to haul big things. My long box fits my KTM perfectly.

I'm not going to vote since most people have their reasons for which one they bought. For me personally, I wanted the short box as I don't haul and have to park in a parking garage at college so driving a longer bed truck around is not ideal. However I still get truck bed space to haul enough cargo or wood that I'd ever need with my short bed.

As far as looks go, neither one looks better, but I feel like long beds look much better when they are lifted apposed to stock.
