i couldnt decide between the short or long bed either. ended up going short bed and glad i did. i got a "compact" truck for a reason and a long bed makes it so much bigger. better for wheeling, parking, maneuvering, etc etc. you might not be able to fit a fullsize quad in it, but i can get a trailer then. my buddy got a tundra and they are really nice. i like my tacoma for the small size though.

I personally think the LB looks better....more proportional. ALso offers a better ride. And you get more bed space.

i think it looks better as well. i was surprised at how much bouncier the short bed was in comparison.

For the Automatics. The manual's mileage is lower because it's geared differently.

i'd say LB for sure if you haul ATVs. theres no way you can comfortably haul a decent sized ATV in the short bed. I think they look more proportional too.

For years i've always felt a long bed is 8ft and a short bed is 6ft but then trucks starting coming with the mini bed. It all depends on what each person likes and what they are using there truck for. I would never spend 20K+ on a truck without at least a 6ft bed weather it be an extended cab or crew cab.

If you have to question it you probably dont need the extra couple of inches of bed space. 1) short beds are usually cheaper in retail 2) Short beds are easier to maneuver and park.

TO add to what I said above, I will say that as you LIFT the truck, it gets bigger visually. So a shortbed starts to look a little more in proportion and the long bed starts to look even longer. I will also say that the shortbed looks great with a TOPPER on the bed and again looks a little more normal. So if you are just going for the look AND you are planning on lifting the truck AND/OR putting a TOPPER on it, the shortbed might work for you.

    Simply my opinion and observation.

If you need bed space, then that is a scientific cut and dry answer.

How about Long box, then cut 3 inches, give it that "sick, bobbed look".................

I agree, being an owner of a DC, LB. Look way more to Scale, than the shortbed. The shortbed: Cab is longer, than the bed of the pickup. Looks ugly IMHO.

I have seen the long bed and short bed in the action of hauling stuff. The long bed is not really "long" You cant even put a 125cc dirtbike in the back without leaving the tailgate down. Looks identicle to short bed with a 125cc dirtbike in the back.

Short Bed looks better too. My opinion.

and then once i get my cover and luggage rack/trailer hitch rack combo, then i can fill the bed with more bins of material.

my conduit is 10' long, so a 6' bed doesnt help over 5'. any lumber i buy is 8 or 12' lengths so a 6' bed is till too short. that extra 12" of bed isnt going to allow me to carry a ton of extra stuff since its at the front of the bed and get stuck with useless cubby holes from the wheel wells.

seems like a 5' bed suites my needs just fine. plus, its easier to park, easier to turn, and i can still haul 5 people around with the bed loaded up. I have enough material in just those three bins to do just about any service call I need.
