the tacoma 'long bed' is the short bed on most trucks... Visually speaking I hate long beds (like a chevy 1500 looks horrible with it). They are more functional but eh..

As for taco's... long bed on double cabs looks horrible imo, but not that bad. Long bed on access cabs looks perfect (but only option so what does it matter). I think the short bed on DC's is kinda useless imo... but it looks sweet.

They should be referred to as "regular bed" and short bed since the "long bed" is really the same size as all the other beds on the tacomas.

Surfboards made the decision for me!!!! I have a hard time sheeling out this kind of coinage and not being able to throw the boards in the back.....might as well get a 4runner if you're gonna strap them to the roof!!!!

Just bought an '09 long bed with TRD offroad package, dunno if it is a new option though....

If so, that is definitely new for 2009. If I had known that, I would have waited a few months to get my Double Cab Long Bed.

The TRD off road package is NOT available in the LB...so, by definition, neither is the rear locker!

heres my problem... well besides money...

the reason im looking for a tacoma is due to size and handling. my jeep is tiny and rides aweful (due to being so short... and a jeep!)

i want a longbed, but i worry that a DC LB will be to long to wheel,

and a DC SB will be to short to camp in!

i really wish 2 adults could be comfortable in the back of that access cab, its just right as far as bed size and wheelbase is concerned!

oh yeah, the cost /used availability is great on the access cabs too!

In your case, I would get a short bed and a camper top. You can get by with that. The Long Bed really isn't made for serious wheeling.

can a six foot tall man camp in a shortbed?

I'd be getting an ARE MX camper... most likely...

    thanks!

well. i mean there wouldd be a diagonal thing happening...

plus i dont sleep like corpse in a mourge! (laid out and stiff.) so i was hoping some scrunching could happen.

i would go to the dealership and try them out. but im probably gonna go used, so i dont want to be heckled by dealers!

Well, in that case, you would probably be fine. Just don't expect to stretch out (ever).
