No shortage of long beds in SoCal.

But this is not a question you ask others it’s an question you ask yourself. But the fact that you don’t already know tells me you probably can go with either. If you “need” a long bed you would know it.

Just my opinion but the long bed with the crew cab gives the truck an out of proportion look. I personally like the crew cab with the short bed, obviously access cab looks the best. But really go off your needs. I got a short bed because I didn’t want to risk not being able to get the truck in my garage and I figured the short bed would be more practical for my everyday needs.

They’re both good looking colors. Think about which one you wouldn’t tire of long term.

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

As far as resale, difficult to say if a 5' or 6' holds more value, but I would assume the 6' bed would be easier to sell.

You have died and are in limbo. There are two doors. One door leads to heaven and the other door leads to hell. There are two guardians, one by each door. One guardian always tells the truth and the other guardian always lies. What one question can you ask a guardian to find out which door leads to heaven?

If you asked the truth-guard, the truth-guard would tell you that the liar-guard would point to the door that leads to a long bed.

If you asked the liar-guard, the liar-guard would tell you that the truth-guard would point to the door that leads to a long bed.

Therefore, no matter who you ask, the guards tell you which door leads to a long bed, and therefore you can pick the short bed.

As others have said, only YOU know what you need.

I can tell you this much: I was going to go with the short bed simply based on cost, but I got a good deal on a TRD Sport with the long bed. Every time I haul something, that extra foot is a necessity. Every. Single. Time. I am VERY happy I got that.

If you will haul stuff, long bed. Simply an offroader, maybe short.

The only issue I've had with my short bed is not being able to hide my mountain bike with the tonneau.

You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched beds when your back was turned! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia." But only slightly less well known is this: "Never go in against a Tacoma World Member when truck choice is on the line!

Looks...short bed....usefulness...long bed. I have owned a lot of different trucks over the years and when I was using the truck for doing truck stuff I have never said that I wished I had a shorter bed. (off roading aside and if that was the sole purpose for the vehicle I would choose something else anyway).

Of the two choices, l’d probably go blue. There are just so many cement Tacoma’s around here. I went with white but really wanted silver. I’m still happy with my choice though.

Really depends on your needs. Of course there's the bed extender available if you prefer the looks of a short bed as it appears the vast majority do considering the wide margin that SB outsell LBs.

DCLB look like limo’s and can’t u-turn as well on narrow trails, the wheelbase is over a foot longer so it will high center easier off road too. I bet the same model caps are a lot more expensive for them too, and how much length does your garage have?

I’ve got a long bed. It’s sweet and I’m always glad my wife suggested we get the long bed after having the same debate.

If you were going to get a short bed, I’d say just get a 4Runner instead. But I also know nothing about 4runners, just that a shortbed would always bum me out and I would rather just have more interior space for the dog.
