This is my 4th Tacoma and have always had a long bed until now. The long one holds so much more. 2005 Tacoma 4DR, 2009 and 2013 Access cab

The deciding factor for me was the 6MT but standard bed would be great though. I couldn't find a 6MT access cab anywhere near me so I took a good deal on a lightly used DCSB.

Personally, I like to lock my tools inside my truck anyway and I only really use the bed for my mountain bike and snowboards. I have the tow package so if I need to haul something heavy or in bulk, I'd rather tow it. I prefer the shorter wheelbase off-road as well.

I've had five Toyota trucks, only one has ever had the short bed.

    Never again.

Regular bed. The whole point of a truck is to have a 6' bed. Anything shorter than that is just for show. It rides better, sells for more and it is more useful.

Wrong! I had a 2004 DBSB TRDOF and the short bed did just fine for what I needed (before selling it due to wife complaints of the suspension being too stiff). So when I found my 2016 Limited, I didn't even hesitate with the DCSB again!

A long bed for me is just overkill!

I always laugh when people bring up parking being difficult with a DCLB. It’s the same width and 13” longer. I would guess maybe 4-5 times a year I may find a spot I can’t park but might fit in a DCSB. That’s a BS excuse, unless you garage your truck.

I like the short bed as that’s how the truck looks best proportioned to me. The 5ft bed with the tonneau cover also perfectly fits all of our music gear, works great for work, etc. The long beds are very nice as well, but for my taste really only look their best with a lift. The 6ft bed is definitely very practical though, especially if you’ll be sleeping in it.

An effect on my decision to resell is whether or not resale is affected by bed size.

I’m surprised to see almost unanimous preference for the long bed given that the short bed outsells it by such a wide margin.

They make more short beds by a large margin.

Right, because that’s what sells the best. It wasn’t a comment for or against either, I was just surprised to see how many preferred the long bed when they sell so many more short beds.

Maybe Toyota should pay more attention to more of the country other than the two coasts. I understand they market to a certain demographic but I’ve never seen a LB sit on the lot any longer than the SB.

Assuming they’re sitting on the lot for roughly the same amount of time, that sounds like Toyota is building trucks in the right proportion for the best sales. Again no disrespect to the long bed, but if Toyota felt they could sell significantly more they’d make them. Most people want the short bed.

We really don’t know if they’re building them in the right proportions or not. As you can see by the responses in this thread the LB seems to be more popular than most thought. I for one had to order my LB because they couldn’t keep them on the lot.

Dude... it’s your truck... pick whatever you like. Not what random people think.
