Just bought the 2021 Tacoma SR5 double cab. My first disappointment was there is no hand rail to assist getting into the truck like the passenger side has.

I don't like pulling on the steering wheel or stepping on the door jam (scratches the paint).

    Suggestions......

I did order running boards fyi

I'm in the same boat as you (shorter) but haven't done anything about it yet. If you use the search function on the top right you can see that there is an option for an aftermarket grab handle for the driver's side just like the passenger's side. I hope this helps. Nice truck by the way, same color as mine

Once you get the running boards it's a non issue. I'm 5'4 and have a 2" lift and bigger tires and have zero issues

5'5" here, so I feel your pain! Get yourself some step up bars (tons of options) and you will be fine. Yeah, there is a driver side handle mod being offered by some crazy chick, but I suggest reading that long running thread on that item before pulling the trigger on that purchase! And I have never understood why folks have an aversion to using the steering wheel to help step up into a vehicle, I've been doing it my entire life with zero issues? It's not like you are yanking on it with a come-a-long.

Running boards will help. My lady has a grab handle on her side and still doesn't use it

    Get to hoppin! :)

I’m the opposite. I’m 6’3 no running boards, 3” lift on 33’s and no grab handle. I wish my truck didn’t have the sunroof so I’d have more head clearance in the cab.

OEM Cast Aluminum running boards does the trick nicely.

Another aftermarket option at US$265. All aluminum construction. Solid.

My wife is 5’ on a tall day. She tried several options at the dealer and liked the Predator steps.

The Predator is indeed a better "step up" per se'. I like the fully closed platform of a true running board, but the position they mount, it's not much of a mid-step exercise to assist in getting into the tiny truck. If the Predator was a fully closed platform along the rocker panel, I'd have selected that product. With the board I posted above, getting out is not much better as for improvement. The polished aluminum trim was also an appeal to me. Black is nothing but a dark-hole void for me to look at. These black-out wheels and such do not appeal to me in any way.

Tyger Auto running boards installed. Made a big difference and yes I use the steering wheel for leverage. Very happy now and looks clean, no more unfinished look.
