I've search the Internet looking for a replacement USB charging "short switch"
I'm looking to remove the ECT switch and wire in a charging spot.
I've found tall USB switches, but not the short one.
    Thank you for the help.

Do you have a link for this?
Was it just plug and play?
Do you notice any inconsistencies while using it?
    Recommend?

    Thanks for the help

I’ll post a link in the morning. I got it on Amazon for maybe $10-13. They have different colors.
It was and wasn’t a plug and play. You will have to cut the wires (2) from the cigarette outlet and connect them to the usb plug. The stock cig lighter has a fixed L shape connector and the new plug has a the up and down parallel connect (like a 5-15 type plug) the usb came with connectors and you just cut the stock cords and clamp the new connectors to the usb plug.
(FYI there is not a lot of slack in the stock cable but just enough to pull through)
I already had my center console taken apart doing an upgrade stage 2 DIY Meso shift knob. It will help to have access to the back side of the center console to screw on the new usb switch.

Edit: also!!! You will have the make the hole bigger! I used a drill bit file to make the hole bigger. Drill a little at a time and check it. Do not over do it.
Last, this does turn off when the truck turns off. It does not run power when the truck is off.
No inconsistencies using it. Works great and charges fast. And the red is pretty sweet too

I was told that Lighter output isn't 12v but 9v can someone confirm. I want to use my lighter for USB charger.

That’s a good point. I’ll double check. As long as you aren’t charging big things like laptops you should still be okay being the small devices won’t draw only a few volts at a low amp. I just got it for my gf phone and blu pen. 98% of the time it’s a just a light. The other times are when we go out of town long trips and it’s been great with just those items. Doesn’t ever get hot either.
As long as you don’t over draw from any circuit it’s rated for you should be fine, just like a house. You can put a 20 amp plug on a 15 am breaker as long as you don’t exceed the draw for it.

I'm not sure but 12 volt on those has been the standard forever I'd be surprised if it's not 12 volt.

I use a USB port adapter in mine all a little. I use the one in the center console almost all the time.

I've also used a 12 volt air compressor plugged into it. It pumped normally, if it was a 9 volt port it would have turned slower.

    Also the cover says 12v

I did the same but used the Bluesea 1045 I think. Was pretty easy. Pulled the lighter out crimped on new terminals and widened the hole a bit.

It’s was a good upgrade. Took me longer than it should have. Thought I could have swapped the connectors right over so had to pull out other tools for that. Also couldn’t get the cigarette light out for about 10 minutes of prying. I didn’t have anything to push the release pins inside the lighter. Used my metal tooth scraper to push them hahahaha. It worked!

Nice! It took me a bit too. Used needle nose and some nylon prybar things used for interior trim kits. I thought I could use the same connectors and saw it was some weird proprietary connector, then I noticed they were different sizes. Come on Toyota!!
