Buying any piece of real estate which has HOA is an epic fail.

This comes from someone who has been in real estate for 9years.

Where is the electrical distribution box above the tailgate height? Do the wires go just up or both directions? Which way do the stairs run? Do they go up toward that wall or at an angle along that wall? If they go toward the wall & no wires below the box it's possible to cut the drywall & XS and re frame the hole like a window opening. Hope it works out for you. If not you could try hitting a brick wall in reverse doing 40 MPH or better then it would fit.

What about getting a garage door that is flush with the Outside wall not the inside ghat would give you 6 inches or so. Call a garage door man to look at it.

Easier said than done of course.

You'd probably have to fab a new hitch receiver, etc.

Step 1: try and squeeze it in there.

    Step 2: Make room!!!

This^^ You would need carriage style garage door hinged on the outside. You may be able to buy some that look similar to the ones you got there cheaper depending on the style. If not, custom garage doors will cost you. Worth a look.

Just thinking here. It would be cheaper to modify the front wall instead of the door. Outside walls are bearing walls so you have to build a header like what they do over a window or door. At worst you'll gain 4 inches removing sheet rock and 3 1/2 " studs in a false window you'll build. At best, which many modern buildings now use you'll gain 6 inches because the exterior walls use 5 1/2 studs. Take 2 2x8 lengths of douglas fir wood with a sandwich of 1/2 inch plywood and build a header to support the weight. Make sure you rest that on trimmer studs. This way you can span about 6 feet of area that your truck will fit into. Google door framing and you'll see what I mean. All you need is to leave the outside sheathing in place and no one will ever know. Everything under the header you build can be removed. If you don't know much framing then get help. I'd do it. It's like adding a door to an existing wall without the outside wall removed. You could do this by yourself for less than $100.

This reminds me of when I was buying my house. I have a 1971 Eldorado that's almost 19 feet long. While I was looking at houses I carried a tape measure and measured the length of the garage. I actually passed on a few houses simply because the car wouldn't fit in the garage. As it is now I only have like 6" of clearance front to back in the garage.

Pull off a sheet of drywall , cut out the studs and put a header over the opening needed to clear the rear of the truck

Like put a short bed onto his longbed frame ?

That would be awesome if you wanted an extra foot of clearance between the cab and the bed .

i bet the HOA needs to approve house paint colors. changing to a new style door would be a hard sell.
