18" tires and rims, 2.75" Procomp lift, Fox shocks in rear.
    My 2014 4 cyl. Tacoma has a 2.75" lift and 18" tires.

While at the shop today, my mechanic, an older guy, avid Toyota owner, and former Toyota mechanic, told me two things after test driving my truck:

    1. He said my tires are too big for the truck. (I have Kuhmo Crugen HT51 All-Season 265/60/18 tires.) He said I should have gotten all-terrain tires because they would be quieter. He also encouraged me to eventually get smaller rims and tires and return closer to stock.

    2. He said my lift along with the wider and heavier tires will screw up my suspension in the long run and cost me a lot of money.

OK, so I purchased a Tacoma primarily so it would last a long time with minimal repairs. My question is -- what impact will the lift and larger tires have on the wear & tear of my truck in the long run?

    Thanks.

He is correct, but stock is not what you wanted, which is why you went bigger... Always a cost involved, both upfront and down the road. Time will tell.

Thought the same thing. And 265/60-18 are the same diameter and width as 265/70-16, which is stock on my truck but maybe not on a 2014 5-lug.

If it's a spacer/block lift he is somewhat correct.

all 4x4 are 6-lug regardless of engine size. But those tires aren't going to be much of a factor. Not like you're running 35's or something.

I think he wants to put your wheels and tires on another truck at your expense. I'm sure he'll take them off your hands, do you a favor

Yes, but 6 lug 4x4 and PreRunner. No 5 lugs.
