I've got the opportunity to buy a 2015 tacoma DCLB 4x4 sr5 with 133k miles for $21,500 or a 2002 tundra 4x4 sr5 with 75k miles for $10,000. Both are Arizona vehicles so I'm not worried about rust. I'm interested in the newer tacoma but I'm totally attracted to the lower mileage and price on the tundra. I've also been having a hard time finding double cab 4x4 tacomas with the long bed which is the only type of Tacoma I want. What do you guys think?

The tundra will do everything you want to do for a lot less, it will suck more gas than the tacoma but not that much more - prob 14 mpg vs 17 mpg. Being 18 years old how are the hoses/belts looking? Maintenance stuff will be important with the older vehicle. Have they kept pretty good maintenance records?
Is it a one owner vehicle? The older body style of the Tundra is close to the size as the Tacoma but with a V8.
It had good reviews when it came out

I’d go with the Tacoma. The mileage difference isn’t that much and I’d much rather have the 13 year newer truck. Even with low mileage, it’s likely to need some maintenance due to the age. The Tacoma I wouldn’t hesitate to drive across the country.

I did test drive the Tacoma the other day. It drove fine and looked clean under the hood. There was some body damage to it which I wasn't too excited about. Big dent in the roof and some small dents in the tailgate. It almost seemed like it was a work truck. It had two owners and nothing stood out on the car fax report the dealer showed me. Im going to look at the tundra tomorrow. I currently drive an 4runner with the v8 so I'm familiar with the engine.

You could do a lot of maintenance and mods for the $11,000 price difference, but this is a tacoma forum. See what you think after diving the tundra.

What if you just wait for a better offer? If you're not satisfied with both trucks, it's not the end of the world. :) There's always another day--I mean truck. Also, I think it depends on your needs and preferences. Good luck

Hi guys, I ended up going with the tundra. The condition of the vehicle was immaculate besides some paint fading in the AZ sun. This is my fourth toyota after a 95 pickup, an 01tacoma and an 04 4runner which I now will be selling. Luckily the new tundra has the same v8 as the 4runner so I will be familiar with maintenance. Thanks guys! I guess I'll head over to the tundra forum!

I have and love my Taco. However, sometimes I wish I had a full size pickup. 6 one way half dozen the other. Depends on what you will use the truck for.
