No. Don't do it. These 3rd gen have major issues with the rear diffs.

I had a 2014 trd off road that I purchased used it had a 2inch lift with 15k miles on it. Loved the truck but it developed a vibration in it. Took to the dealership and they removed the lift no more vibration for awhile then it returned. Truck was coming out off warranty so I decided to trade the truck off. I couldn't see paying repair bills along with a truck payment. That's the only reason why I traded. Now have a 2017trd off road with no issues. Best of luck to you

Personally I would say keep paying off your current truck, rack up the miles and trade in later down the road.

It blue booked at about 17,000$ when I got it, talked the dealer down to 15,000$. Of course they were some taxes and Fee's on top of that 15k.

I just blue booked it right now, and Blue book said it's worth 14.5k. Although it has a tow package installed, and blue book did not give me the option to select a tow package for the 2.7

So basically it's worth more than I owe on it. At the end of this month I'll owe 13,500$. In a few months I'll have a few grand positive equity on it.

Don't do it. You're just digging yourself into a deeper financial hole. Keep your truck, pay it off and enjoy years of having a reliable truck and no payment. People that get into this "I gotta have something new" cycle just make dealers richer and themselves poorer. Two years from now you'd be tempted by something else newer and shinier, too. Break the cycle before it begins.

    That's a lot of debt on a 9 yo 100k ride.

Which is why many consumers stay buried in debt their whole life. 'Shiney new stuff' being appealing that is.

Work though some real numbers (not your guess work). Figure out what your payments/insurance increase would run. Subtract your current payment. Start applying the delta to your current payments and get the banks foot off your neck sooner.

Maybe I'm just dumb, but I still don't get it lol. How do you still owe that much even tho its 9 years old? How long ago did you buy it anyways?

I currently own 2 Taco's. I drove my 99 white single cab 4x4 5 speed 2.7 since January 2006 when I bought it. It's been a great truck. It has almost 193,000 on it, and haven't had any issues outside of routine maintenance stuff with it. Over the last couple years, I been wanting a new one so I got serious about saving a little money. Last Saturday I went to a dealer and told them what I wanted, they tracked one down a couple hundred miles away, and they went and picked it up for me. Now I finally have my brand new Tacoma. I had the $, and I felt like I deserved to splurge a little on myself (lol) since I have been driving my 99 for so long now. So far, I am happy with my decision. This new Tacoma is awesome and its fully loaded with more technology than I know what to do with. It's also a lot bigger than I thought it would be since I got the double cab long bed.

So, OP you should just do what you truly want and don't listen to others. I had ppl tell me I shouldn't buy a brand new one, but I said too bad that's what I wanna do. I had never owned a brand new vehicle until this week

It's your money but I would not do it. And I think the 3rd gen is a great truck.

Remember, it is very difficult to get the Blue Book value out of a trade, the dealer will always offer low (they still have to make money on the deal). That being said, I would highly recommend riding out this vehicle until you have more equity in the truck before you start looking for your next ride.

So true, if you can afford it and not debt poor why not treat yourself with a new Truck. If you work hard, then you deserve the finer things in life

Thanks, I bought it from my dealer i believe I paid almost $400 :annoyed: Currently there's a replica for half the price and the money you save can be used on other mods

Wait a little. The CPS and the rear diff issues are enough to hold off. If yours is working I wouldn't do it. I used to have a reliable vehicle and now I'm basically trapped in my apartment this weekend.
