Should New OEM fender flare seal have a gap?

    Hey,

I just took my 2018 Tacoma in because the front, passenger fender flare was pulling away from the body. The clips were fine but the double sided tape that seals it was unsticking. So they ordered and painted a new part for it and installed it. It looks good except now there's a new gap in the seal towards the top front of the flare. It's about a 6" length with no seal. They told me they didn't know why but it's OEM & that was how it was sent to them (with the seal pre-attached to the flare). But it's bugging me that it doesn't match the original condition or the driver side. Are they being honest, should it have a gap, and will the gap make it start to pull away again as it weathers? Thanks.

I have a small gap on one of my rear fender flares on my 2018. I was wondering if the dealership would fix it or not. I can see the gap get worst over time. The only reason I haven't done anything to it as I have a set of painted fender flares that I am planning to install when I have some free time. Current one is unpainted as my truck is 4x4 OR model.

Mine separated & the dealer retaped it. It came apart in less than a week. The dealer then epoxied it & that seemed to be the fix for it...

The seal comes off due to clips not being set all the way. Gotta press the flare really hard to hear a click.
Most likely the clips were stripped by pulling the flare.
Seal should be all the way.
Take it back or do it yourself.
I did repair rear one on mine after a body shop. Bought 1/4" 3M double sided tape and clips on Amazon and fixed.

Do you need to know, or care?
Had a similar problem, it was the clips.

I would also like to point out that the doubled sides foam stuff between the fenders and the body doesnt run the full length of the fenders

My flares are separating bc I removed them to sell. Long story short I decided to keep and reinstall. Used some new clips and some old. Used 3m double sided thick tape. They eventually separated. If you don't mind me asking what clips did you buy off Amazon? None seem to say they work with 3rd gen. Also what adhesive did you use?

Did the dealer end up fixing this issue?
