Your sleeping platform is what I plan on doing as well. Looks great!

Here is a platform I did for my 2013 DCLB this last weekend. My goal was a camping set up that could sleep my wife and I (she hates tents). At 57"x73", it will accommodate a double size air mattress. I opted for two of Cabelas foam mattresses (30x72x3) cause I'm not a fan of air mattresses. They are a bit big, but crunch up to pad the sides of the bed which is actually nice, and are the perfect length. They stow in a full ceiling gear net, and a 2 person canvas sleeping bag and a couple pillows fit perfectly in the drivers front compartment. The passenger front compartment is for a future marine deep cell battery/inverter install. The drivers rear is for camping gear, and the passenger rear is for tools and recovery gear.

I don't have it re-enforced in the back (there is a cut out you can see to accommodate a 1"x6" cross board, we come in at less than 160Lbs each, but if you weigh much more than that you will need to install one). I used one 1/2" sheet of ply wood (high quality A/B Grade for hardness), and two 2"x10"x8' untreated timbers for the frame (11 1/2' total used, so you could use one 2"x10"x12', but it is actually more $ than 2 8 footers for the oversize lumber. $13 compared to 2x $6, plus you have 4' extra in case you mess something up). All the wood was cut, sanded, primed and painted satin black, the deck sheets were covered on the top with a plastic sheet of adhesive painters floor guard (after painting) to keep any water damage minimal, then topped with outdoor rated grey carpeting.

Prices rounded up to nearest $ (April 2014):
    1x A/B Grade 1/2" sheet plywood: $40 Lowes
6'x8' Roll grey outdoor carpet: $20 Lowes
    1x roll 21"x30' platic sheet: $10 Lowes
    2x 2"x10"x8' untreated lumber: $12 Lowes
4x cans grey primer: $8 Ace
4x cans fast dry black Rustoleum: $20 Ace
    4pc corner brace set 1"x1/2": $ 6 Ace
    4pc corner brace set 3"x1/2": $ 6 Ace
    4pc corner brace set 2"x5/8": $ 7 Ace

    TOTAL $129

You can see by the pics the gist of the set up, I'd give measurements but they get real precise. You need to measure as you go piece by piece. For example; get your frame laid out, cut, check fit, sand/primer/paint, check fit, install with hardware, then measure for your panels one at a time. Take into account 1/16" per side for carpet thickness! And yes, this set up can be done with ONE 4'x8' piece of ply wood!

Keep in mind, if you have a short bed (60") you will not be able to sleep 2 people, or fit much in the way of air mattresses or full length sleeping bags without rolling up some excess. One guy diagonally and a dog is about all you can hope for, but even then it does keep the bed organized well ;)

What are the black boards on the driver side? Are those for putting under the tires when stuck?

Looking through the pics here I did not notice any "toppers/caps/shells" with lockable side opening windows. I have them on my 09 and they are handy as hell. Beats climbing up to the front of the box to get something small that is needed at anytime or whatever. Would highly recommend considering side windows that open when buying a 'topper/cap/shell'.

It's a work in progress, but this is it as of a few days ago. Replaced the bungees with ratchets and added tie-downs to the large Action Packer in the back for lashing soft gear to the top.
