The pull out beds are awesome, if you don't use the back of your truck to make a living and/or arent a huge slob and/or dont carry a wide variety of tools, materials, farm implements and/or farm animals. I'd always get crap stuffed into all of the voids between the pull out and the bed...and it doesn't slide so easily that way. I don't deserve nice things.

    cool thread.

if you or anyone els want a bed mat for cheap, go get the 4’x6’ stall mat at tractor supply. it’s also at least 2x thicker than the oem mat. I have pic in my build thread if you want to see pic of it in use.

    My truck is my home.

I'm only a year or so into the process of making the best possible use of all the space in the vehicle, but this is where I'm at:

Mine is empty at the moment until I put the Hi-Lift jack back in. I just got the shell on Friday and really enjoy having one. I think it'll be great for camping and hopefully my Lab will like it back there.

Just got back from a camping trip. Here is what it looks like when the wife wants to come (notice the copious amounts of blankets and pillows.) [IMG]

This is how it is normally with camping gear and tool box under the platform.

I've got windoors on mine. Absolutely love them. I was reorganizing my stuff today and took a picture. It all fits in the crate, except the tire chains.

1st page of my build thread link is in my sig.

don’t have a shell, i put tall stuff in to much to have one, but the stall mat is a cheaper alternative for a bed mat.

Toytec 2.5 leveled Canopy with sweet bed setup in back
    photo 4.jpg

My camp setup was designed to be pretty light and easy to take in and out. I can install or remove in under 10 minutes, easy. I like the taller canopy, I'm 6'1 and I can kneel and crawl in without hitting my back on the roof. (my feet do touch the back window :) I can also sit up in the morning.

some scrap 2x2 and 2x4, couple sheets of plywood, wood screws and one bolt-
The height is right up to the canopy clamps and it's perfect for milk crates underneath. To stop them from sliding around you can put some rubber on the bottoms.
It can sleep 2 people when in "romance" mode or you can fit 2 bikes on the side in sport mode. In sport mode the extra sheet of plywood is on the bottom and has some wheels that help it roll in and out easy. I also have a little pole with hook to reach and drag stuff out.

photo 3.jpgthe second piece of ply and post is held in with just friction fit.

photo 2.jpg the middle vertical support slots in a groove on the floor and is attached to the lateral bike mount piece on the floor with an angle bracket. I but a few extra screws attaching it to the middle ledger because this is maybe a weak spot, you could go full length but I wanted it to be light!

    photo 1 - Copy.jpg

    photo 2 - Copy.jpg
You need to cut out the corners a bit for a good fit.
The 2x4 fits perfect with just friction behind the tiedown. I bent an angle bracket to anchor it to the side, used the pre-existing bolt which is a 10mm socket.

photo 4 - Copy.jpg then just screw the plywood onto this post, this is the main anchor point. Of course when the tailgate is up you don't have to worry about it falling out!

photo 3 - Copy.jpg bend another piece of angle bracket to make the lateral anchor point which is again using the pre-existing bolt. T40 torque head.

    photo 5.jpg

That it in a nutshell. If you want a measurement or more details just ask.. You'll have to figure out what works for your bike setup, I just got a new MTB so have to tweak it a bit.

Great to have some foam pads to kneel on when you're getting in and out. LED lights are good too.

Now if I could just seal out all those mosquitos :)
