That's a 3rd gen 4Runner Rack. I have the same one on my shell, pulled from a junkyard '97.

@six5creed that rack looks good on yours. My shell has more curves on top and the rails are under some tension to sit flush with the top. Some shells are just thicc :D I also lost all the little rail end caps transporting mine home. Also, may I say that I am a big fan of your 80/20 shelf. Very cool.

I took this one off and took it apart, my buddy powdercoated all the metal parts and I sprayed the plastic pieces with some spray paint for plastic. So far so good

The shelf is handy, small and out of the way. I went to the roof because I didn’t want legs in the way.

Nice. I sanded mine down and used trim paint. Holding up so far, but powder should last a while. I need to do something similar to your plate steel bolted to the roof to reinforce the rack. I think I'll pick up a length of strut channel so its modular for future use.

My girlfriend hates being hot so being cool the biggest challenge with getting her to go camping. Will the dual battery setup work to power a strong fan? I got one of those dewalt power boxes and the battery in it was drained after only a few hours.

We went this route for a fan in our Square drop camper, works great and is pretty quiet. The rechargeable batteries last about 8-10 hours per charge with the fan on consistently. We bought a few extra sets and charge them before a trip.

Thanks man. She likes a loud fan too. Shes one of those people who hates quiet and can't sleep in the quiet. I've tried to convince her sleeping by a running stream is the best noise in the world.

Those are nice and they use the rechargeable 18650 batteries.
Added it to my wish list.

For camping I highly recommend the Milwaukee fan and lanterns. Expensive but batteries last forever. I already had tools and batteries so it was a no brainer. Plus u can charge usb off the lantern while in the tent etc.

I was using a Thermarest cot and Exped Downmat 7 for in shell sleeping.

Upgraded to custom platform and Exped Megamat. Built with winter ski resort dirt-bagging in mind, this will let me slide my board under the platform and have room to sit up and put on boots in the morning.

Thanks for the tip but all my newer flashlights, lanterns and stuff use the same rechargeable 18650 batteries.

Hey there, did you design the carpeted cabinets yourself? brand? this is a lot like what I'm trying to do. yeah the standard height makes platforms tough for regular use. great post!

I'm still going to build mine. But I am using 6" and making it long enough to hold about 14 gallons. Then I want to get a water heater so I don't have to worry about the water being cold. LOL

CLUTCH setup. I have that same exped, pretty great. What is the carpeting you used on the bottom? How's does it manage water retention? Also those vertical windows are 100% awesome. The high clearance shell is where it's at!
