I'm so new to anything electrical. when you change something like this out from stock do you just clip off the ring connector that goes over the current battery post and just screw them down or connect into the new terminal ? of course taking precautions to use heat shrink and such . also have seen folks doing the big 3 upgrade as well.

If I went with the exscorpion because my cables already have ring terminals I’d probably dip the B+ terminal in rubberizing compound to make it safer. I’d be worried about a hard plastic cover getting cracked.

Depends on the connector but in general you need to cut the clamps off the cables and crimp on new lugs. The heat shrink just covers the part of the lugs not covered by the terminal boot.

I replaced the factory terminals with these Amazon ones about 10 months ago. Haven't had any issues with them.

I've gone through many battery terminals and these are by far the best that use set screws and "sockets"

I used to have those, once any battery acid or corrosion gets on them you wont be able to tighten them without a sleeve. Notice how the ends are touching where the clamp is?

Anyone know what the two empty bolt holes in the drivers side of the engine bay on the 3rd gens are as far as bolt size/thread type? Looking to mount my mounting tray this weekend and was going to use those two spots.

Edit. 12 minutes later and google comes through..

If anyone is in need of the same answer they are M8 x 1.25

That’s weird, I’m pretty sure my passenger side was a smaller bolt- like the same size as the bed rail bolts if I’m not mistaken. The holes were rusting so I cleanEd the threads out and added bolts with a dab of anti seize

That looks clean! I’d paint the tray personally

    What’s the bigger black cover?

I installed an 8 gang switch panel from Amazon.
I decided to fab up a panel to place everything on since having a manual, there is nowhere to use the included mount.
Take a look at my build page in my signature for more details.

    Nice,
I suggest safety caps/covers for the positive connection studs. It’s pretty easy to lay a wrench there and get some fireworks.

I just finished mine inside a box and it was a pita but very worth feel better having all the relays and fuses in a single waterproof box. After I got that all mounted and safe. I made a small harness with 6 wires going through the firewall to a custom box I made out of cherry and ended up bed lining it and mounting it where the rear view mirror used to be so all 6 switches are nice and neat in one place. The best part is they're out of the way and in my opinion super clean looking.
