I like that relay holder design. My panel is very similar to yours + how it mounts. Didnt think to do a relay holder like that.

Yeah, I like your relay location. I'm currently gathering parts for my build and after mounting the Overland Equipped tray, I have nowhere to put the relays. They're either going to go on top of the existing fuse box or underneath the tray like yours. Thanks for the idea!

Use sealed relays(preferably flux tight but at least sealed with skirts) or they’ll corrode inside pretty quickly.

I ordered in the parts for the front half of the buildup, since I’m also upgrading the audio and adding fog lights. Will post up after I figure out how I’m putting it all together!

And the email sent out to all owners:

    Hi Overlanders,

I'm reaching out today to let you know of a potential issue that can be averted with the Overland Equipped Power Bracket you purchased for your Tacoma. If special attention isn't paid to the brake sensor wiring near the upper left corner of the fuse block (see attached revised installation instructions with pictures), and the bracket is resting on the wiring, it may eventually wear through the wire casing and cause a short. Safety is of the utmost importance to me, so I wanted to reach out to all my customers who have purchased the bracket and ask that they check their installation to ensure the bracket isn't resting on the wiring.

There is enough adjustability in the mounting points that you should be able to loosen the mounting bolts and adjust the bracket up away from the wiring. During the design and test fitting phase when creating this product, I didn't run into this issue but had a customer alert me of the potential problem and wanted to share the info with you. In an abundance of caution, I'd also suggest checking the edge on the bracket near that area to see if it's sharp and if so, sanding it to a rounded edge. Additional electrical tape or even a short length of rubber hose around the wiring could be employed for even further protection.

Going forward, I will be including the attached revised installation instructions to ensure all customers are aware they need to look out for this during installation. I will also be hand sanding the edge in that area prior to shipping to eliminate the customer needing to do so.

I apologize for the extra work of needing to check this, but want to make sure you are safe. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

Thanks very much for being a customer of Overland Equipped!

    Minor stuff.
Yes. They did take care of the problem and the owner called me the next day. They apologized and listed to what I had to say. They were very quick about putting a statement out. I was pleased on how they handled it. Someone here stated they cut the corner off of theirs. That’s something I would have done knowing.

You shouldn't cut corners, it never pays off in the long run.

Yeah I have the bracket in hands and cutting the corner will weak the bracket so I will install it and take a serious look at the brake harness.

You can see my temp fix over here. I may even put some rubber edging on that corner of the bracket too. GL!

Haven't visited this thread in a while. Hope everyone is doing well!

Starting to renovate my panel a little bit. There was a lot of interest when I built it last winter so thought I'd provide an update.

One of the members here pointed-out that when I mounted my relays face-up that I exposed them to potential water damage. That's been on my mind ever since and I finally got around to trying out a solution. I bought a plastic project box and just finished dremeling it to fit around my relays and the wires coming off of them. It has a nice cover that can screw onto the bottom piece!

    IMG_2540.jpg IMG_2541.jpg

My only problem is that the box is 0.5" too short so I can't actually put the cover on right now. I'm trying to brainstorm some ideas on how to add a 0.5" weatherproof layer around the 2 enclosed sides of the box. I was thinking about adding some super thick weather stripping, or thick aluminum blocks, etc. haven't fully decided.

This is what I came up with. I put 1/2” weather foam around the perimeter and then screwed the box through the panel. Cut off the pointy ends underneath. Think it turned out fine!

So I bought the Overland Equipped fuse block tray that others have. It doesn't have any place, or any room, to mount the relays. I see a lot of people here mounting their relays on their own larger custom trays, but also a lot that don't. What is the best way to mount these on the OE tray? Also most of the wiring harnesses I see come with a relay wired in and I'm thinking of just using these for the 2 or 3 accessories I'm going to run. Any experiences pro/con with harnesses like the Hella Value one? They all seem to be about the same?

Good question. I see some use the factory fuse panel lid but I wonder if you ever need to open the panel what would happen with relays

Agreed. It's already hard to remove. I'm going to have to run long supply cables to aux fuse panel to allow room to remove it if needed. There is some room on the left side of the tray, left of where the 100 amp breaker goes - that will probably work for relays?
