Love them. I don't leave stuff on them because I've had stuff stolen at my apartment. But they are quick and easy when I use them.

still waiting to get it powder coated and get it fully installed, but my @ragofabrication mid-level rack arrived a week ago now. Pictured is just the cross bars, there are side panels that fit between the gusset plates and two top rails I can put on with or without the Yakima basket.

Hey guys, for anyone interested in a bed rack for this spring, summer and fall camping season, Datin Fab is running a group buy/sale on our rack for 2nd and 3rd gen tacomas here.
If we can get 1-9 people, we will do a 20% discount. If we can do 10+ we will do a 25% discount!! Don't miss out on this!! Easily mount rotopax, quickfist, RTTS and much more. This design is also fully bolt together making it easy to install and remove.IMG_9311.jpg

Has anybody built a rack using tubing for chain link fences? A buddy gave me a bunch of that stuff to use on a rack but i was just curious if anybody has used that before. The stuff is galvanized so I gotta be careful when i weld it but otherwise don't really think there should be an issue...

    Some of the things...
Mines still a work in progress, I plan to add highlift mounts and at least 1 fuel storage can of some sort. The finished product will also have 4 side facing 6" led bars and 2 rear facing bars.

Test fit with our kukenam and rhino rack dome awning.

I used kbvoodoo rails as a base and will be reusing my access roll up cover. Hopefully I can get the welding finished up and off to powder coat in the next few weeks.

It's not very strong and it's galvanized most of the time I would pass and build it out of tube.

I'm curious... for all of you who are running bed racks that attach to the bed rails, which it looks like most do. How do the bed rails, with some weight on them, put up with all the shaking and shimmy-ing from offroad? I don't want to worry that my rack mounting is going to rip the rails apart. I've got bed stiffeners but will that do enough to keep everything unbent?

A bed rack will actually stiffen the rails, spreading the load across the entire rail and over all the legs of the rack. I put a couple thousand hard miles on mine and only issue i had was the RTT hardware shook loose. (thank god for ratchet straps)

Check all your hardware regularly and you will be fine.

The bed rails mainly hold the rack in place while the bed sides support the load.

mine has legs that attach the to the rack, the bed sides and mounts to the same attachment that holds the bed to the frame. Maybe an extra set of stiffeners for the front of the bed would work.
