In a strange unpredictable move... I switched over to a 19' KX450... I was a Kawi Hater for years till I rode the 19 and it changed everything for me over the KTM Kawi Honda and Yamaha..... but the KX450 is the bike to beat in my eyes for my personal riding. So far its got a lottttt of goodies... needs a pipe to be complete

The 19 KX450 is a really good bike. It would be at the top of my list if I were looking for a 450. I like 450s that feel 'small' and the Kawi has that nice compact feel, still has a good motor /handling is pretty solid. And they finally took some of good ideas that KTM has been using and applied them (e-start, hydro clutch, easy access airbox etc). Very good bike!

I just got a new bike over the weekend. Added a YZ125 to the garage. Had a few in the past and always loved them. Will probably race it in a 2nd class on occasion and my fiance will also be riding it, when we ride together. It's currently in the bac of the truck and going straight to the track, after work.

I agree 100% I actually think everyone is shooting for the feel of the 16+ ktm free revving light feel which is becoming the new 450 standard (and it is a lot different than the per 16 450s). The newer KTMs miss the mark for me personally in bottom end grunt which I never understood cause some shootouts make it out to be a beast of a motor... and it is mid to high just not down low. The Kawi is the most electric feeling powerband of the new bikes I have ridden.

That YZ125 is a beautiful bike! Mine is in the truck headed to the track for some evening motos in 2 hours when I blast out of work as well:headbang:

I agree. For some reason KTMs are a bit 'sleepy' feeling off idle. My friend's 250SXF felt that way compared to the YZ250F that I recently sold. Even my 350 just doesn't have that initial snap. So going with the quicker throttle cam, going up a tooth in the rear, a pipe and opening up the airbox did help. But I totally get that same feeling that you describe. I'm heading out in an hour also. Enjoy your ride.

Work in progress shes actually very clean low hour. Needs a carb rebuild and some surface rust attention but she has been under a cover for 20 years. I am more into the new stuff but my boss needed it gone and gave it to me

Grab a hand full of throttle and the ground would just explode under the rear tire. I wheeled it for a week at Moab last year, what a freaking blast.

    Tpi is sweet!
From what ive read the 17s are down on power because ktm took out ignition timing. Just fyi. Might try for a 18? Or cdi replacement
