I will definatley check it out, Thanks Black Taco.
I took 5 days last August with my dad and 3 of my Uncles.
we rode all through the Smokies, Blue Ridge Parkway,Cherokee, Maggie Valley etc. and the all the rodes we kick ass. Ive ridden through the Rockies in Colorado twice, and the rodes dont compare to the rodes down there. I love the grippy, seamless, granite blacktop.I hope to go back agaiin someday!
Have you been to the Wheels in time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC? That guy Dale sure knows his stuff and has some awesome bikes.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
This is what I used to own. Not a Harley, but I can almost guarantee the thing was louder than one. It was a 74' Yamaha SR500. These were about as simple as they came. They had NO electric start. Only kick start. Mine didn't even have a battery. I just had a large capacitor hooked up to the stator. It had a single large pipe for the exhaust. No baffles or anything. It had one giant piston so it vibrated like crazy. It was built like a tank and was dead-reliable. I had 50,000 miles on it when I sold it... which I wish I had never done...

Nice Riding! you never passed anyone, but never got passed either.
i found that going after 4 pm was the best time, because the cops would be gone by then. And if there were cops, there are only a few spots where they can speed trap, most of the riders would tap their helmet to let you know Johnny was right around the corner.
I definatley learned a lot about riding there. I usually hug the yerllow line here in the straight flatlands of Iowa, but there, you got to stay away from the yellow line, so LeftHand turns took a little getting used to. Especially with my big ol street glide, even scraping on turns at like 5 mph, and that bike wanted to use up more lane than the lane offered.
My first time riding the dragon, we came up on an accident that was fatal.
a sportbike got too close to the yellow and hit a harley rider coming from the opposite direction. That was little freaky to say the least.

The museum in Maggie Valley is awesome and a great collection of vehicles, motorcycles and so forth. I believe it is the largest collection of runiing vehicle in a museum. Route 226 coming out of thr valley is a hell of a ride too. I swear I could see my turn signals when going around some of those turns. I am slo in full belief that there is a not a straight road in western NC. Great riding area, including the Smokies as well. Keep the wind in the face my friend!

I was there 4th of July week summer of 2007, I couldn't believe I got that run in. I made 4 runs that day and had traffic every time. Pure luck I had only one truck in front of me on that run. What a blast. One bike down the day I rode The Dragon, sport bike came up onto traffic too fast and slid off into a huge gulley, luckily nooone was hurt. The Dragon will bite ya.

Well, it's not a Harley, but it is a Twin... a high-revving, sharp handling, liquid-cooled Twin. I like it. A lot.

Very nice, When are you getting one?
I can see thats a 2009 Vrod, right? how is he liking it?
i test rode a 2006 Vrod once, but wasnt too crazy about it, but I like how they are looking this year.
The thing is, if you are looking for a Harley/ Sport bike/ tourer, i would want a Buell. Seriously fast and amazing handling, and they weigh about400 lbs less.

Ya, it did whip me pretty good after 2-3 hours. The other thing was that the kick starter had a tendency to whip up and hit you in the leg. Also had to wear ear plugs because even with a helmet, it just about made you deaf.
