Ron, I appreciate you posting this! I've been thinking of ordering that same setup. I'm just looking for some extra bass.....not rattle the windows ghetto bass

I replaced the 4 stock door speakers with pioneer 6x8 3-ways and lost some of the lows that the stock full range speakers produced. This little sub sounds amazing and is made with a solid case and does not rattle. With my receiver's crossovers, I was able to eliminate the lows going to the doors so the highs are very crisp, and with the sub under the driver's seat you can feel the bass as well as hear it, and now my system produces full range sound that is clear and distortion free to as loud a volume as I can stand. It does exactly what I wanted, which is what you are looking for...extra bass, but not over-the-top ghetto bass.

I highly recommend this powered subwoofer and this eBay seller. I purchased a subwoofer wiring kit at Walmart for like $20 and it made the installation quick and easy. I actually considered buying 2 to put under each seat, but 1 is really all you need.

Hows the radio reception? Best buy had them for $250 for black Friday. Was thinking about picking one up.

    4 run, 2 don't
Picks up the San Jose station better than the stereo in our '16 5.0

I use Youtube music though and communication/feedback between the head unit and phone is instantaneous.

My only gripe is figuring out why my head unit stops GPS tracking when my phone screen is off. It has to be a phone-specific issue seeing as how my other phone's GPS worked just fine even when the phone screen was off. I went from a Samsung S6 Active to a Samsung S10.

rear view mirror was missing when I got the truck so I have one mounted to the glass now. The old mirror location made a great spot for the mic for the phone function. love the CarPlay for navigation

About to install this exact stereo. Did you have to get any trim pieces or adapters or did it fit into the exact space where the old factory radio was? Thanks!!

It’s alright. I do like the back up camera when hooking to a trailer. The guy I bought the truck from had it put in. It cuts off randomly the starts back itself. He told me it did it and they were supposed to send a replacement, haven’t heard anything from him and it’s been 7 months. It may do it three times a week then it may be three months before it does it again. Checked for loose wires, nothing.

Nice, I saw a Scion headunit for sale in my local FB Marketplace but wasn't sure if its a direct plug and play. Did you have to modify anything or is it just a direct plug in?

No adapters or trim needed. You will use the factory brackets to secure the new unit and the double din display fits perfectly into the factory trim opening.

Have had my Sony unit for a short time, no problems yet. Love the 5V pre outs for my amps and really clear sound. Wanted something with no frills and good quality that still looked like it belongs in a 20 year old truck.

Ron, you Bastard. Ever since I saw the Sony installed in your truck, I've wanted the same! So, I ordered the Sony XAV-AX1000 from Crutchfield earlier this week, and it should arrive today.
I came so close to originally ordering this unit a little over a year ago, but went with the Pioneer MVH2400NEX....mistake. Nothing wrong with this unit, I just really miss a volume knob and I'm not a fan of trying to press the little volume buttons on the Pioneer and others that don't have a traditional volume knob. Not knocking this design....everyone's personal choice.
Just wanted to give a shout out to ya and say Thank you for helping solidify my decision and spending $:spending:

I returned the Sony one I had xav-ax1000, it had a very bad glare in sunlight and bad color fringing. I am very happy with this head unit. It has a tilt screen function which I find very convenient to reach the screen. Apple Carplay/ Wireless Android Auto

That looks nice. Let's see the rest. I'd love to see everyone's complete setups.
