Last year they didnt check my rear windows at all, just gave me a slap on the wrist for 30% on the front windows. My rear access cab windows are 5%, woops, probably because it is almost factory looking with the smoked glass.

    30% front, 5% rears.

Not great pics, and I have no clue what the percentage is as it was on when I bought the truck. Makes a huge difference during the day, very hard to see out of at night. Counting down the days till i get pulled for tint because Vermont hates it.

Used to run 5% all around on my last ride until the laws changed in MA (and most of New England). Miss the look and the privacy.

35% on front windows...windshield and rears all factory. I had a vehicle that was 15% all around and 80% on windshield and got pulled over on multiple occasions. Seems like I don't really have a great pic from the side.

This is 5% all the way around

BTW, you can do it yourself, it's not hard. I do it every year to pass inspection. Film is like $30. I've done it soooo many times, with a steamer, takes me about 15-20 mins a window to remove and replace.

Trick is, remove door panels, don't have to unplug electrical, just unbolt and let hang. Clean the windows really really really well, don't use anything with ammonia in it like Windex. Amonia+sunlight=purple tint.

Get a spray bottle, put about 5 drops of (must be) Johnson's baby shampoo, fill with water and shake well. Keep the tint and window soaked, as ling as they are, tint won't stick.

Slide your tint into place. Use a tint tool (little plastic pointed squeegee, cost about $10) smooth out the bubbles. Reinstall door panel. Done!
    Eeeezy peezee!

If you want to speed up the drying period, just hit them with a hair dryer or heat gun on low for few minutes. Otherwise leave windows rolled, parked in the sun for a couple of days.

For removal, steamer is a must! Bought mine at harbour freight for about $100. Takes about 1 minute to remove the tint, no glue residue! Considering what people charge to tint windows... It's paid for itself 20+ times over! Lol!

(since 2006, I have only gotten 2 tickets for tint, both times I was pulled over for something else and they just tacked that on. The time, the effort, the $440 in tickets over 12 years... Well worth it! No one can see me, no problems with sun glare, helps with heat, best of all... No one can see what's in my truck to steal it!) :)

Have tried and failed to install myself on several occasions. Lint/creases/tears. It’s definitely a skill.

The first time I did it, I failed miserably. Used 1ply tint, just water for lubricate, bubbles and tears everywhere. Asked a friend of a friend who does window tinting for a living for tips. Followed his advice, bought 2 ply tint, precut, used the baby shampoo to keep it wet, removed door panels... etc as described above... Came out perfect from the 2nd try and since.

Now... Lol! When I did it the second time, install came out perfect. Inspection time came around. I spent all day with a heat gun, razor blades, cleaners... Etc to get the tint off.

Back to asking advice, I knew there had to be a better. He said use a steamer, takes like a minute or 2.

Again, the old saying... "ask the old guy in the shop, he knows" was proven true again, lol!
