I talked to the lead mechanic and they said they could replace the differential but the next one might do the same since the engineering on the spider gears has such a large range for tolerance that it hit and miss, toyota needs to fix their engineering, i have opted to not replace it, i will just deal with it until i get an arb locker.

I have a feeling since my truck has a 2.5" leveling kit they are going to try to use that as a way out of taking responsibility. Even though the issue started at 500 miles before the leveling kit was even installed and a factor. If anyone on here has gone the lemon law route any information on what that process consisted of would be great. The issue is getting progressively worse so I am hoping something fails so the issue is obvious.

Though I agree in principle, don't you have a lift and aftermarket spring pack? Even if your (beautifully built) truck was a 6AT, Toyota wouldn't touch it and if they did it would involve stock replacement leaf springs.

Even if I could (I'm a fellow MT owner), I wouldn't have the TSB done because I want to lift down the road (I'm holding out for a diff howl TSB, however foolish that may be...). That said the steering wheel damper is around $25 online and I'm tempted to just buy and install myself; in any case it's treating a symptom and not the main issue.

Don't mean any offense - just wanted to put that out there.

EDIT: After actually reading your build thread, I was wrong - you're planning for an HD leaf pack but are currently only using sumo springs. My bad!

No worries man, no offense taken. I have a 3 leaf AAL sitting at home. Have waited long enough to install. Once I do this TSB becomes irrelevant any way as you pointed out. So I will install and hope that stops these vibes.

Any idea what a steering wheel dampener does?

I imagine it just soaks up some of the natural vibrations that come through the wheel. Looking at the part, it's difficult to tell how it works. If I cared enough I'd go to the dealer to actually touch one, but something tells me it probably isn't worth it lol.

Well I took it in to a second dealership and though they too wanted to pass accountability onto the 2" spacer calling it a needle bearing issue we finally got to the bottom. I agreed to have the bushing installed at a cost of $450 out of my pocket with the understanding that if it did not fix the issue I was not going to pay. A couple hours later the service tech informed me that the entire front differential needed to be replaced. So if you can isolate your vibration to the front driveline using a ziptie on the cross member to isolate it or just remove it all together I am guessing the same thing they forgot to do when assembling mine or doing QA has been overlooked on yours as well. Honestly at this point I will not be surprised to learn that they forgot to fill it with gear oil. Just like the Tow package tacomas that they did not account for the oil cooler in 2016. Now I am out a vehicle another week, and now they cant find me a rental....... WTF They say they are going to compensate me for the days I have not had a vehicle and my time and travel but we will see about that. I guess that is the last glimpse of hope they have to try to make this less embarrassing for them. Hope this can help all of you with the 35 mph in 2wd front drive line vibration that goes away when its put into 4wd or if you remove or isolate the front driveline.

Did I mention I told them the issue started before the leveling kit was put on and had pretty much diagnosed the issue for them with the help of this forum.........?

I see in your other thread you installed your AALs . did that help with the driveline vibes?

I'm super bummed the new TSB doesn't cover our TRD ORs , so looking for options .
    Thanks!

I did not notice them with the new leaf pack installed. however I only have about 60 miles on the new set up and my original one was hit ando miss on when it would do it. Bottom line is its too soon to tell if it helped.

I would think that should of fixed it, that's what they're
replacing on mine when the parts come in.

I wonder if this will have any impact on the clunk or harsh downshift when rolling to a stop
