SHUT OFF ENGINE NOISE

I have a 2015 extended cab, 6 cylinder, with about 14,000 miles. When I turn the engine off there is a high pitch whining noise that comes from the engine and it seems to be getting louder. I was told that this is "normal". Anyone have the same problem or know what could be causing it?

 

Probably the secondary air injection pump, gives a short burst when you turn the truck off.

 

That's just the turbo spooling down

 

Sounds like the pump to me too, its just a short burst of air.

 

That's the supercharger.

smog pump ? .. mine whines down when i shut off the engine.
dont think it should be getting louder though.

 

Smog pump. It's not getting louder. You're just paying closer attention to it.

 

I wish mine would purge at shut down.

It's the hamsters getting off the hamster wheels that power the truck. Normal.

 

Mine does that also. Hasn't gotten louder but it is very noticeable. Sounds kinda cool, I think. I've had a friend ask me about it. Should've told him it was a S/C but I think he knew better lol.

Smog pump 2013-2015 to clear the moisture from the system. Normal

 

Mine does that... i was confused at first and have just been ignoring it. Glad i know what it is now
