    Tried searching, with limited results.
I have a 2000 Tacoma SR5; the side mirrors are (standard?) manual adjusting units.
I am hoping to find replacement mirrors that are LARGER and preferably fold-out, too. I swear I've seen these mentioned here before. Can one of you provide some insight?

01-04 1st Gen mirrors are larger and foldable and will bolt right up. You can find some aftermarket sets on ebay or through parts distribution stores.

4runner 96-01 will bolt up. They fold up also.

just be aware, you want to look for the power mirrors weather you have power or not, the manual mirrors are the smaller ones like you have now, they just added an inside adjustment knob for them

Karl can you elaborate on this? I have seen 01-04 style aftermarket manual mirrors before....the bigger ones not the base model small mirrors

I am curious as well! The powered mirrors do look bigger, and foldable.
I assume there will just be no adjustment from inside the cab, even with my current manual stick thingie?

Picture difference of the 98-00 and 01-04 mirrors, both manual in the pic. On the 98-00 you adjust the entire mirror housing for sight. On the 01-04 you adjust the mirror itself alone.

that is very very rare, and I suspect those were power mirrors with the wires removed, (note the nipple where the wires normally come out of)

I have a factory original 04 and it had the manual mirrors and they were small ones with the inside adjustment handle.

I was even told by Toyota (for what its worth) the larger ones are all power mirrors and I could find no one anywhere selling a large mirror new or used that wasn't powered

    just saying

these are the manual mirrors that came on my 04 http://www.ebay.com/itm/01-02-03-04-Toyota-Tacoma-Pickup-Truck-Set-of-Side-View-Manual-Remote-Mirrors-/271669562392?fits=Year:2004|Model:Tacoma&hash=item3f40c48c18:g:SXsAAOSwaB5XlXoo&vxp=mtr

if you look closely you see the stem sticking out in the middle where the handle attaches to adjust it from inside the truck

this one shows a used oem one with the handle http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-02-03...ash=item567e75615c:g:v0gAAOSwFGNWS4ZQ&vxp=mtr

I have seen big aftermarket 01-04 manual mirrors (which are just the power mirrors that they don't put the motors in them) but never seen an oem 01-04 manual mirror for them

The larger, manual, side view mirrors you're looking for are the ones that came with the Offroad Package (essentially the thing that got you a TRD Offroad). I dunno if they are rare, but I have them on my truck, with the OF package.
    mirror.jpg

    The part numbers are:
    R: 87910-35560
    L: 87940-35531

The power mirror part numbers (which may be the same size but have wiring) are:
    R: 87910-35840
    L: 87940-35750

Toyota parts list cost (circa many years ago) is ~$125 each for the manuals and ~$200 for the powered versions. Hope that helps you down the path!

(edit: added links to these on Amazon - see a couple posts below for more details)

The cheep eBay power ones from 01-04's work fine, you just adjust the mirror lens inside of the housings then the housing breaks away and have positive stops they click into and stay put either in the out or in position. You rarely have to adjust them unlike the crappy ones from 95-00 that get blown out of adjustment on the freeway or bumped into in parking lots.

$60 for the pair, that's pretty reasonable, at that cost you can afford to break a few sets ;) I'm on my second set after bashing them on stuff

You ever experienced the mirrors shaking a bunch a highway speeds? Some reviews from other members on the aftermarket sets have stated that. Guess the shake on some of them was so bad the owners returned them and went back to oem.

Ive read that before too, not noticeable to me. There are adjustment screws on the bottom of the arm that hold the mirror, I did tighten those down a bit and it helped. My whole truck rattles so much I don't really care, they are such an improvement just in size of the mirror viewing surface over the ones I took off

I assume the mirrors TurboDB mentioned should bolt on directly to 98 Taco SR5 just as well?
