When i first started carrying i carried without being chambered until i felt comfortable to chamber a round. Now i dont even think twice about it. Its all about your personal comfort-ability.

NSR tactical makes solid IWB and OWB holsters. Their IWB's used to be my go to due to their loops and snaps design that will never break like a clip. But now I prefer the Incog Eclipse IWB holsters with a clip because of the way they press the grip into my body. Less print.

Yeah, I need to learn to trust this XDS, just freaks me out how there's not really a safety.

No safety is what I like best about my handguns. Took me a bit to come to that conclusion. But keep in mind your fine motor skills go to shit in a high stress situation. No safety to fumble with or forget can be the difference between life and death.

You’re really only at risk when holstering/unholstering. Once it is in the holster, there’s not much that can go wrong.

Thankfully the Sig doesnt have a safety, the Shield does but i leave it in the off position.

I also train my draw to slide my thumb down to disengage the safety if for whatever reason its on. Its just one more step to remember in a time of crisis.

Also, the XDS has the grip safety right? That should put your mind at ease when holstering. You can keep your hand off the grip safety and once the trigger is protected push the rest in the holster by the back of the slide.

Right on, it has a de-cocker and double action, I'm more comfortable with that for some reason. Yeah, the XDS is the lemon squeeze like a 1911.

You'll notice that everyone of these guys carry appendix. Just thought that was interesting.

Interesting, it just came up in my YouTube feed as well.

Well, to go to the gun shop and pick up a Sig or not?

My carry gun purchases are based on feel in the hand, no safeties, and availability of holsters. Hate for you to buy a handgun and not be able to find a quality holster to carry it in.

It sure is good to have options. I like the Stealth Gear holsters a lot.

Unfortunately I'm a bit too "fluffy" to appendix carry so I OWB with an un-tucked shirt or 3 O'clock IWB. I was hesitant to carry chambered at first but now I don't even think about it...find a place and practice..practice..practice. :quickdraw:

Fine motor skills going to garbage in a life or death situation can't be understated. Safety, or carrying condition 0, aside- it's also extremely important to find a place you can practice drawing from your holster- even if it's only 20 minutes a day with an unloaded gun in your basement. This entire process *must* be muscle memory. Your instinctive reaction in an adrenaline dump is tension and if you tense the wrong way when drawing a firearm, you've just shot yourself in the foot, femoral artery, or in my case, the little Private. Drill drill drill!

Going to a shooting range and lighting up paper is nothing at all like suddenly being on a 2-way range or having some addict running at you with a knife. If you want to experience a fraction of how everything goes to shit, find a place that does IDPA or race your friend on a dueling tree. It's incredibly eye opening what mechanics go out the window and what mechanics dont. Spoilers- your body will do what you drill the most

In my experience, if you're going to carry a compact-full size weapon, you need a quality holster with a concealment wing and or a wedge to push the grip into your gut.

a quality belt is a must too.

now the sp2022 is a fine gun, but in my opinion, the p229 is a much nicer weapon, and with the current LEO trade in market, its crazy to not get one.

I too carry AIWB, i mostly carry a glock 19, sometimes my G43.

notice the holster has a wing built into it... also has a wedge on the slide side of the holster. Both of which do the job decently.

I used to carry a P229, what ive found, for the weight, and the capacity, the glock 19 is the best for EDC.

BUT my p229 is my nightstand gun. Polished internals, srt internals, polished internals, Inforce gen 3 apl. e2 grips, and some x-ray sights (sigs HD's)

Exactly what I did. My concealed-carry weapon is a Glock 26 - so no decocker and no safety other than the one between your ears.

die hard sig guys love hating on the SP2022, its a polymer 229. it shoots like a sig normally does and is lighter and $499 typically. Its a hell of a buy.
