Always reading about lots of great ideas and advice for my Taco from here. Wanted to post up some results for my first go at something other than general maintenance stuff. Here's some painted center caps. The ones on the bench are from a round of sanding with 320 grit.
    Here's some notes in hindsight:
    • The paint was flaking off like crazy. Should have started with lower grit first. Probably something like 220.
    • Pressure wash or jet stream with garden hose before sanding. Removes chipping paint faster than sanding.
    • I didn't bother taking the time and taping off the Toyota symbol in the center which is darker than the rest of the cap. I don't regret it, looks good with solid color.

do you have the product #s for that duplicolor you used
also, did you have to remove ALL of the old coating on the caps?

I didn't remove all, but I was really believing in that "filler" part of the primer. I always want those claims to be true, but I'm guessing that stuff only fills microscopic holes. It sure doesn't do anything for sanding imperfections. If you could zoom in on those caps you'd see what I mean. Mainly due to the edges of old paint. If you want it to be like new, then you'll need to sand it all the way. That old paint on plastic just keeps chipping away every time you handle it even when you think you got it good.
