So im looking for a new radio, i would like to get one with a big 7" touchscreen but im rarely in my truck long enough to watch a full movie, is there an advantage to getting a receiver with a big screen or not.

Or should i just get a badass single din receiver and be done with it?

Im looking to see what yall have and the pros and cons of your system and if you think i should get it.

I have around 500 bucks to spend but if i dont have to spend it all i would like some left over.

    Thanks for the help guys.

IMHO I think the Double dins look badass in the 05+ Taco's. If I had the funds I would have one in my truck.

I had the single din and switched it out for the double din.

I also opted for the new METRA factory match dash. Looks great. Very simple install too.

I think alpine is giving some deals on the w202 (pre 505) unit. There are plenty of brands WELL under a grand.

I am a fan of the Pioneer AVH-P4000DV if for no other reason than the illumination can be set to match the OEM gauges. I know, I know, style over substance... but I am a fan of Pioneer H/U's anyway and that little feature just puts it over the top for me. Sadly, I can't recommend it because I haven't heard it yet.

    Hi Guys,

Do you know if any of the double din decks work with the steering wheel controls ? I realy like that function and would hate to loose it.

The pioneers do, for like $70.

Most of the eclipses are plug and play as far as the steering wheels go.

Alpine/Eclipse/Kenwood are all good. I would also put pioneer in there but out of the 2 pioneers I have had, they both stopped working. Although 1 was a cd player in 1991. Still bites my ass though.

Definitly go with the Double Din, plus, get a receiver that will handle a back up camera. I've found that backing up in tight parking lots can be pretty difficult, especially if you have a lift.

Double din for sure! I love mine. the reason i got rid of my single din flip out mobitor is because they are a pain in the ass to install due to the remote "brain" they have. the double dins are a simple install with no other hardware.

im in the same position as far as trying to decide. my only dislike about a double din is the security issue. i dont want someone being able to see it by looking in the windows and giving them reason to break in.

i know theres a jvc double dinwith a adetach but im leary of jvc quality.

i think im just giong to settle for an alpine 9886 at the moment.

I know what you mean. I just keep a towell in the back and drape it over my dash. People think I put it there for the heat. People arent going to steal what they cant see.
