I just got a new 2020 Tacoma with the JBL system. I can’t get Siri Eyes Free to work. My understanding is that when my iPhone is connected via Bluetooth, I should be able to press and hold the “voice” button on the steering wheel to initiate Siri.

I had a 2019 Camry and this worked well with my iPhone, but I haven’t been able to get it to work on my new Tacoma. Any help would be appreciated.

I am unable to get it to work on my 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. I had a 2017 Tacoma Limited and all I had to do was hold the phone button on the steering wheel for 2 seconds to prompt Siri. Now it just takes me to my phone contact list. I am still working for a fix but if you found one will you please let me know. I will be bummed if because carplay was added that functionality can only be used via a USB connection and carplay active.

I found on page 167 of the 2020 Tacoma Entune manual that Siri Eyes Free is only available in countries where Apple Car Play / Android Auto is not available. My work around is to use my Apple Watch and say “Hey Siri”. You can use your phone to say “Hey Siri”, but if you leave it in your pocket like I do, it doesn’t work well because it doesn’t “listen” through your blue tooth mic.

If you’re using CarPlay, you should only have to push the voice button on the steering wheel

yeah - I know how Car Play works. Siri Eyes Free is nice to control music/texting over BlueTooth for when you just want to leave your phone in your pocket and not plug it into your USB port.

Any fix you found to get the old style functionality back?

Not really. I don't think there is a solution using Entune on the 2020 models. I have an Apple watch, so I can use the "Hey Siri" functionality through that to change music.

I have seen that. It does look like an interesting option to provide wireless Car Play.
