It's kinda like wearing a condom... :) Good protection AT ANY COST.

Seriously if you are worried about drag/mpg wrt buying sliders you may want to stick to an ARIES bull bar and side steps.

    Good luck!

    Ditto the longer.

I have a stock skid plate, and about the only way I'd be interested if this provided protection I currently lack.

Yeah, I know mine is aluminum, but for the foreseeable future, I have a road truck. I'd like to get back to CA someday and play in the desert again though. For now though, I don't have a big need to upgrade- providing a good quality item at a good price would keep my attention, however!

I'll let miller know about the diff shield. Hopefully there's some existing frame mounts

I was planning on making them two separate parts but it would be pretty simple to combine them. I'll make that change in the next test plate.

So, popular vote is the 3/16"steel covering the diiferential, and of course and oil drain hole....Might make shipping a tad bit higher but other than that shouldnt be any real problems.

Is there really any downside to having two pieces, other than having to put two pieces on the truck? Seems like they'd be lighter / easier to handle when taking off / putting on in two pieces. Would there be any loss of strength?

I'm Cathoic, I don't know how to even spell kondum. J/K. Yeah, I really don't care about drag, the question was more or less just to be nerdy, because I'm wonderin. Brandon over at AVID is makin me some pretty ill steps/sliders, so I'm covered there. I want the skid no matter what, because I heard having cool armor under your truck gets more girls.

Miller -- I'm still down if you're gonna make additional armor, (ie ,rear diff plates, e-locker plates, etc.), obviously depending on some cost factors, but I bet you can get some people rallied behind you, in order to drive costs down. Also -- Im goin out of town for a little bit, but when I get back, I'll scan my pink elephant. Thanks man!

i like the two pieces for the lightness of the front diff skid when i take it off to do an oil change on the diff. na mean' jk anyways it would have to come off completely in order to do that... yes yes i know 15k far and in between, blaw blaw blaw. i dont want the hassle when i am doing it.
    just my .02
id be down if the front flared out alittle more from the front it seems alittle skinny nice but skinny

i like this look protects the cvs and radiator a little better from the front more aggressive look
    P.S. ford trucks suck

How about a gas tank skid, possibly? Mines gouged up pretty bad.

I think you are going in the right direction with the prototype skid.

I think 2 pieces would be cheaper to ship also, but would have to check on it to be sure

I will be working on other pieces after I get this one down. The rest seem much easier to at first glance, so it shouldnt take long to get a full set goin.

As far as the weight, I'm not exactly sure. I'll post when i get a chance to weigh it.

Its hard to say. I still need to cost out a finish and shipping plus any design changes I make might affect the quote i already got. I am looking to price these lower than other simliar plates. Speaking of shipping, does anyone know a cheap/reliable way to ship something like this?

If this ever materializes into a group buy I am interested. :)

Haha, will probably be more like sunday. This one is to correct the mounting and to see what kind of aesthetic changes I can get away with. The third one will hopefully be the final one. As far as the diff cover, I'm toying with the notion of going with 2 plates. The diff cover will be made of the same 3/16 material and will be just as beefy.

I will have a ballpark price in a couple of days. I will be doing a fitting tomorrow then I can play with the looks of it. After that is done, I'll send it for a quote.
