I was planning on asking for a TRD skid plate for my 2017 Tacoma this Christmas, but it looks like they are discontinued now. Is there a new part number?

If its no longer available, what other options are there? I've seen a few, but they look cheap. Pics please and info?

So many better options about there. CBI, RCI, Relentless, Mobtown, etc.

I doubt it is discontinued as the 2019 Pro still comes with one, it does have red letters though.

Is there a new part number for the "new" skid plate?

Where? Have you called a local dealer and asked about a P/N and price? Or just poking around online?

But the real question is what do you want it to do? Look nice and offer light weight protection, or be something that offers rugged protection?

Correct. Part number changed due to addition of red TRD inserts.

    Correct.

    PTR60-35190 is the updated one.

You can still get the older one (PTR60-35160), if someone has it in stock. They just dont make them anymore.

Incorrect. Ask me how I know:

Thanks everyone!!! That's what I wanted to know. I'm just looking for appearance only, not planning to "need" a skid plate ever.

The number you gave is the new updated part number. Only difference is the addition of red TRD inserts on the embosed TRD writting on the aluminum.

Does anyone know if the red inserts are available separately? If so, what is the item number?

I dont believe they are, but you can go for the inserts/stickers provided below.

Negative ghost rider. They DO NOT fit better than what comes from the factory on the updated skid plate.

You essentially bought nice expensive $50 stickers. The updated skid actually has slots for the TRD inserts to be attached. Also, they are not vinyl or similar sticker material, instead, they are some sort of molded plastic or similar material.

Im not saying that what you did / linked is bad, but the oem update is of much higher quality.

Ill take a better picture of the updated plate tonight.

Have you seen the Tufskinz one in person? They fit perfectly into the TRD stamp on the skid. That stamp is the same it's always been on the TRD skid. Toyota just added inserts for 2019. The Tusfkins inserts are not "nice expensive stickers" but are indeed OEM quality thick plastic-type material, just like what Toyota is offering.

I've seen closeup pictures of the 2019 OEM inserts and they don't look like they fit well at all. Wish I could find those pics again, but it shouldn't be hard to get someone to grab some. I saw them on here or IG. I've also heard the same comments from multiple people.

Can anybody confirm if the RCI mid works with the TRD IFS/front?

I have not seen the tuffskin in person, although they look to be of nice quality.

The TRD “Stamp” is no longer the same for the 19s. The updated skid, now has “slots” for the added inserts to attach (as opposed to just a sticker).

Again, not the same as the tuffskins.

I OWN a 19 Pro skid with the updated red inserts. They fit perfectly and are actually attached to the skid, as opposed to the tuffskins (which are essentially a nice high quality sticker).

I will get some better pictures later tonight... In the meanwhile:
