Interesting. Wouldn’t have thought they’d use that sort of design. Leads me to think they will have spare letters available for purchase no? Thanks for the pics. Learn something new everyday.

I’m still happy with my tufskinz :)

Yea. It was a surprise to me when I went to remove the inserts only to notice that they were really attached to the plate.

I would guess the same as well.

Nothing wrong with the tuffskins, as stated before by me, they are high quality inserts, just not quite as strong / durable as OEM.

Wondering what they look like if you remove them from the skid. Are they hollow? Still. Can’t picture the quality of the material used.

This may be an unpopular opinion fellas but when all the old TRD skids are sold out and only the new unused ones are for sale, aftermarket sticker vs oem inlay won’t be that big of a deal.. the folks who want the red inlays who got their hands on a used or leftover old skid will go aftermarket, the rest will get the new model with the inlays already applied. And according to a previous post where the oem inlays seem to have position holding nubs, you wouldn’t be able to order and apply them to the old style.

Or in other words enjoy whatchu got there isn’t really a wrong choice... just some red accents y’all! Lol

They seem / feel really solid. Very hard to the touch. Definitely some sort of hard plastic... PP or ABS perhaps.

Keep in mind that I DO NOT like the inserts, whether cheap ebay stickers, tuffskins or OEM.

How long until someone drills holes in their 2017-2018 skid to use the OEM inserts?

Also, you've been rather clear on that point! :D

Im sure you could do something like that, or even mod the inserts (remove knobs / attachement points) and stick those on the 16-18s skids without drilling holes.

Damn that’s a lot of gaps lol. At least they took into account that some people like red inserts and added some to the updated skid. Still would rather have decals tho.

Lol... you just reminded me of a buddy of mine. Guy dates 6-7s, but everytime a 8-9 gets pointed out to him, he proceeds with the “elbows to pointy, too many split ends, would not bang!”...

Damn man that sounds just like me sadly enough lol. Good thing I married a 10 or the cycle would still be continuing. Sometimes I had to question my thought process and ask myself what the hell I was thinking lol.

Seeing as I don’t care for the red letters, I accelerated my timeline and ordered the old style skid today as there is a dealership near me that offers pickup with the online pricing. They list it as available so we will see if I get a call to pick it up next week.
