A friend of mine said part of your field rations is skittles and capri sun. Is that true?

They had those in the Jimmy Dean meals. I only got to try the Jimmy Dean meals once. Had a Capri Sun, Skittles, and a small can of Chef Boyardee ravioli. I preferred the Cheese Tortellini MRE and the Chili Mac MRE.

The menu changes a little bit each year. I’ve had M&Ms, and Skittles before. But you won’t get a liquid drink in an mre, only drink mixes to add to your water. The current menu can be seen at the link below. I know there are also websites that you can look up the menu for a given year. My favorites were the beef stew, spaghetti, and chili Mac. I also had Jimmy dean meals back in the mid 90s. Unfortunately I don’t remember what they came with for a drink.

For your blood sugar if it gets low.

Maybe @US Marine can enlighten us. Better not disappoint with a name like that!

I guess since I’m here I’ll ask another question. Years ago I worked with some former marines and army and they were talking about how they hated MREs. Tasted ok but made you shit bricks. I guess that’s true?

I've had both C rations and MRE's , I like the taste of MRE's much more

    100% TRUE

If I eat an MRE, I won’t shit for 3 days. Sometimes if I’m on a camping or hunting trip I’ll eat an MRE so I don’t have to use the nasty ass outhouse. Though shitting the brick out later is an unpleasant experience.

Yep. Except the milkshake mix, that stuff would clear you out quickly and unpleasantly.

One of those and some Taco Bell bean burritos and you don’t have to worry about the brick.

I remember getting the Jimmy Dean sandwich meals while sitting around green ramp at Pope. Half the sandwich would be hot with melted cheese and somehow the other half was still frozen.
