damn when did this happen? and you know if they're discontinuing everything or just rebranding it? Wish there were more roof rack options for us access cabs! I've been steering clear of most of them bc I don't want to drill into my roof.. but on the other hand.. thule cross bars are a little pricey for what you get..

I just got an email about 30 minutes ago from CBI when I emailed Zach. Kinda sucks but no one knows whats going on yet.

Hopefully, @T4RFTMFW will get us a rack option for us AC guys :boink:

My one experience with CBI was buying ditch light brackets and it wasnt bad at all. I am quite certain i got a free tshirt from the deal as well. Do they have a history of bad workmanship? The Prinsu side panels are laser cut and so I dont see how they could laser cut them worse lol

I bought a pair of ditch brackets from them too and got a free shirt :D Zach hadnt brought the price up on these racks in a few years because he felt the price was perfect. Anytime you have a big company step in they will jack the price and make changes to the original design. Its not an if its a when. Sure production will increase but so will the price because CBI wont think theyll make enough profit on it. Maybe I am just bitter though that Zach sold the company and the fear of a price increase that got me worried. We wont really know until CBI starts releasing the racks in 2 months. I just know they act like robots when it comes to customer service and they never do GB's which sucks

Installed a mic tuning USB plug on the left of the steering wheel. Wasn't that great of threads to show how it's done so here's what I did.

I used an add a fuse on ign 2 and then used a ring connector on the bolt that bolts into the panel where the fuse block is.

    Pretty straightforward at that point.

Yes I know I have a few add a fuse already

Also bought the reflectix, 3M 90 adhesive and carpet to do the headliner. Just don't know when I am gonna do it yet. I may wait until September when the weather is nicer or maybe next week. Haven't decided yet :anonymous:

Met @lucky today to check out his truck and I gotta say, man that install was clean! The things he did like the cross member and the rear drive shaft were just brilliant! Now I wanna start converting mine :boink:

    What hasn't been modified?
I like how you tucked the cross up higher and tighter than I did.
Why did you move the carrier baring? Get a 4x4 rear shaft instead of having your modified?

So while i get why you did this, the how of how you mounted these in the bowl to stay has got my quite puzzled, I drive a yard truck for work and it has some slick led headlights and i thought man if i could just do round leds in my head lights and found yours. I wouldnt be copying this to a tee but definitely a step in the right direction of what id like to have in terms of light out put

after further digging i see where you got them from, did you just drill a hole for them in the bottom of the bowl or do something else?

Hey David :D This is what I usually tell people when they ask me how I build everything:

Ok so far I found the section in my build thread that documents the build

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/sleipnirs-build-and-the-typical-bs-thread.435468/page-12

And here's the conversation I had with another member. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have questions

Glad you really like my headlights :D I actually got the idea from someone on facebook who was selling his for the same price. I didnt want to spend $900 on those headlights when I knew I could build them for half of that.

If I would have to choose light output that would be hard to say. The projectors from the anzo's were bright and had a very distinct line that separated the light from the dark. Like you would see in any retrofit. The Jeep headlights are amazing when its dark out and its just me on the road. When there is more lights like street lights or other cars its sometimes harder to see. I think a lot of that has to do with my inability to see light at night but who knows :p If I did end up building another set I would probably use @sidetracked . He's the one that has the Killer Deal on Rigid Lights thread. Morgan has a pair of DOT approved Jeep headlights that I would try out to see if they gave a better light direction.

The jeep headlights are super thin so you need to use a base to create a surface for them to stick to. I explain this in the next paragraph so dont stress :p There is no way for you to get screws or the stock bracket to work in the headlights and it would look really silly.

For the epoxy but I stole my trick from @TRSAndrew from the retrofit source. He uses JB Weld SteelStick to create a base for either projectors or these headlights to sit on. Once I had the Jeep headlight right where I wanted it I used JB Weld epoxy to make it permanent. This was probably the most scary part for me making these. You have to make sure these are exactly where you want them because the epoxy dries fast. One thing to mention which I didnt think of at the time is to make sure the reflector bowls are level so you can adjust the lights up or down. Mine were all the way down and when I put the Jeep headlights in as level I couldnt get them low enough to where I wanted them. I have only been flashed a couple times and one of them was from a cop :bananadead:

Other than that its pretty easy to make these. I did the BHLM but color matched them. I got everything I needed for materials at Autozone. And yes, you can put the headlights in the oven with the jeep headlights in and be ok with the wires. I followed the BHLM thread to open and seal them and I would highly recommend doing the same thing.

Oh and one last thing too. Since these draw so much power you will have your high beam light start to get brighter and brighter the longer these are on. It turns off when they cool down so its not permanent. Just make sure for longevity's sake turn them on when you need to to keep the LEDs safe since they are in an enclosed space and can get hot if not careful.

Let me know if you have any other questions or something doesnt make sense! If you need help feel free to hit me up!

Thanks for your elaboration. The high heat factor in the enclosed housing is what I'm concerned about.
