a couple more poser shots from Makalawena (Kona, HI). I think my rear Icon's (56503) are a little short for the Dakar leaf pack, but I'm taking care of that with some RCD 5100's from @kumz and @Crom's install write-up

got the Cooper ST Maxx 255/85's installed (finally).

first impression: tires are WAAAAY quieter than my duratracs. can feel a slight difference (lag) in acceleration due the increased weight, but it's not bad. stoked at the way these feel.

in case anyone ever needs pics for reference... fills the wheel well way better than the 265/75's, sits perfect under the fender, and can even run front mudflaps (for normal driving) :bananadance:

    front Icon's ~2.5" lift
    rear Dakars ~ 3.25" lift
    Cooper ST Maxx 255/85/r16
Konig Countersteer Offroad 16x8", 4.5" BS, 0 offset

I've updated my thread title so I can just post crap in here. anyway, took my truck for a short pre-work, offroad, dawn patrol fishing (whipping) session. scored this nice little 3lbs Omilu. scrappy little guy. followed the lure all the way and took it about 10ft from water's edge. it was a catch and release. let um grow. :)

no new truck updates, but I took my truck for a short offroad session to go fishing. tires hold up great on lava. no more anxious driving moments. duratrac load C's had me clenching my ass 90% of the time :D

got another Omilu. 19.5", maybe 5-5-1/2 lbs. catch and release

Fishing out there looks like a blast! You get to off road and end up catching stuff like that?! Jealous.

Bought some cheap Craigslist 285/75/16s to see how bad the rub would be and damn are they wide. Or they look alot shorter and wider on my truck than the 285s ive seen on other tacomas. Those 255 coopers look great on your truck! And you seem pretty satisfied. My thinking is my 8.5 wide wheels might widen the 255s a bit. Don't think i could bring myself to downsizing back to 265s. You still liking the st maxx tires? And How wide are your wheels? Thanks

yeah, I think you're kinda right... my rims are 16x8's, and according to Cooper's site, 255/85's are 32.8"x10.2", measured on a 7" rim. I guess since I'm running them on an 8" rim, they do appear a little wider. I would almost have to say that they look about the same width as the 265/75 duratracs I had on before. they definitely don't look too skinny. you might want to look into running them on an 8.5" rim though... Cooper's site recommends them on 6.5"-8" rims. so far, so good. I have no regrets about buying these tires :cookiemonster:
