Caught a breath of monte's second wind tonight. I was tired of studying so I set out to get some wiring done. I got my bed light/reverse light wired up, which led to me discovering a wiring problem i didnt know i had. I wondered why my LED rock lights and the LED bed light looked so dim and wimpy, and it wasn't until i hooked up the bed light i came to the conclusion i had the wires in the wrong switch prongs. so the accessories were getting power, but it was the measly bit of power used to light up the little led bulb in the switch, not the full load of the switch. So now my bed light is bright as fuck, and my rock lights are actually bright now.

Before, I had 5 power wires and 2 ground wires just shoved through the fire wall, it was a mess. Now I wrapped it all in plastic and its together now, nice and tidy. I still have the interior to deal with and clean up tomorrow.

I'm happily surprised when my wiring it correct the first time. It's worked out so far...

 

I made a point to test stuff before I unhooked it and wrapped it all together and redid the connections. But knowing me, something will probably go wrong or not work and i have to trace the problem

 

As long as you don't have to weld anything you should be good lol

 

Haha that's exactly what I was worried about when I installed my relay box. Sooo many wires that could have caused problems....

So i have another 16ft of led strip on the way aw well. Im planning on using more of it underneath the truck for the rock lights, and I want to put some under the hood, for working at night. but i need some good ideas on where to put the rest of it.

oh. the switch was just a minor thing. It worked, which is why it didnt throw any red flags until I knew that the led light should have been brighter. no biggie haha.


you should have seen some of the gross wiring that was done from the fist set of lights i put on the truck. you would probably throw up lol. but i fixed most of it

You could do separate bed lights?

Or maybe create a work light somehow with the excess.

I haven't welded in 2 years now... Not looking forward to how bad they might be when I start again...

No point in separate bed lights. the led pod is so damn bright is takes care of the whole bed and front yard of the house across the street
