    lol

It's banking regulations that were put in place in 1933 to prevent another financial meltdown like the one that brought on the Great Depression.

The most critical parts were repealed in...1999. :drevil:

Sure, I agree with you there...but there will always be people like that. They'll get what's coming for them.

My first year of my landscaping business, I showed a loss on my taxes of $20 because of all my initial equipment expenditures. I was freaking out because the audit risk alarms went off in Turbotax.

This, dear god do they need to bring it back. As far as bad businesses, call the BBB on the company and have them check it out. My sister was working for a medical supply company that was run by the biggest scum bag I've ever met. I gave my sister and the people whom I knew a month to find another job and called the BBB on him and he got shut down in 2 weeks, he's now running a shop in Charlotte, NC and hates me because he blamed me for his place being shut down and I blatantly told him that I did everything in my power to have him shut down.

A certain man whom is on the campaign trail want's to bring Glass-Steagall back into law and voted against its repeal in 1999.

Hey now! One can be a Democrat (or even... GASP!... A liberal, the Republican naughty name of the day) and not be all about regulations and government interference!

This isn't true at all. There are many large and small companies with social and philanthropic missions which still make money and provide for a decent wage for their employees.

I'm with the OP in that there are too many people who work shady back-door deals and crony capitalists. Business is about providing a service or product based on the consumer models of supply and demand. It's not supposed to be that I get on my buddy's spec list because I gave him a reach-around.

I think some regulations are good and others are horseshit. I would cringe at a completely deregulated business sector.

Business and politics are very closely intertwined and that's where we run into problems. Bankers successfully lobbying to classify investment income as somehow being different than employment wages, and thus being taxed at 15% rather than 36%, is in my opinion an example of where laws are made based on the desires of an influential few rather than the good of society as a whole.

    Think Mexican drug cartels.

Well said, indeed. They need to somehow remove the ability to lobby from companies. I don't know how the hell it's going to happen - businesses love the ability, because they can change laws as they see fit, and lawmakers love it because they get bonuses and free shit galore.

But somehow, some way... we have to remove money from the political process. Or at least remove the ability for companies to provide money to campaigns. I know there's been some efforts recently to make donations to campaigns more transparent, but I'm not sure that will be enough. I really like the idea of politicians wearing NASCAR like uniforms, with all their "sponsors" lol.
