Great build and upgrades! I got your same JVC radio. I was going to ask you a bunch of questions about your radio but found this video that answered them all, haha. You probably don't need this but thought I would give back some from your great detailed posts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuHKJd4iBMs

Nice video and detailed review. This is actually my second JVC radio and I absolutely love it. The sound and everyday performance is outstanding. The controls are very intuitive and easy to read and operate. I do have a rear USB drive that it takes a few seconds to intitially read... but there is a lot of music files on it so it is understandable I guess. That is my only nitpicky comment. All-in-all, best radio I've owned. Hope you enjoy yours. Thanks for posting.

No problem, yeah mine has been great too. Before watching the video I wanted to know how to make the display stay on one color instead of changing colors constantly. Makes it annoying night driving, haha. And I found a random usb cable in my glove box and now realize it's the rear usb cable routed into the glove box.

I have mine set to all white during the day for readability and it turns all red when I turn my lights on. I have red led illumination throughout my dash and instruments, so it all matches real nice with the radio.

That's a good idea. I will have to try that out, thanks for sharing.

Nice build @smuook. I was curious about your hood scoop. Could not find any info on your thread. Is it functional? Is it a add on to your og hood or a 4runner hood?

It is not functional at all. It is a Lund accessory that I painted and used silicone adhesive to mount it. I can take it off. I just got bored and I like the way the way it looks, much like on the current Tacoma sports. This particular one looks acceptable for the Truck imo because of the size and shape isn't too big.

I thought of having a functional hood scope, even making it work on this one. But to do it right, It would be quite an endeavor and the benefits would be marginal at best. You won't get any ram air because of the way the intake is, so at most you would help reduce under hood heat (maybe) when not moving. But the dust, dirt, rain, snow, etc. consequences aren't worth it imo. My truck is not a serious off road vehicle. I just get bored and with it and like to tinker. The best thing about my truck is I paid if off about 6 years ago! ;)

Thanks man. I don't think I have ever seen a first gen with one and have always like the looks on the second gens. I believe those are non functional as well. I hear a lot if second gens guys talk crap about that. But if YOU like the looks then that's all that matters. I personally am a fan. I hear ya on the truck being payed off! Man when I payed mine off, it's a awsome feeling! Lol. If you ever have some time I would appreciate to see some better/closer pics of it?....subbed by the way:thumbsup:
