    There's some challenging stuff out at hungry valley and I've heard of guys getting carried away and breaking parts (balljoints) just take it easy if it's your first time, have fun LOL.

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    96 miles from santa ana to hungry valley, and you gotta pay $5?

    the desert is 84 miles from santa ana and its free to play...

    if 4x4, Cleghorn is even closer...

    there are a number of us who go desert wheeling almost twice a month and some that hit Cleghorn at least once a month...

    feel free to roll to either adventure...

    you can see the runs posted up in the So Cal section of the site...

    Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.
    Cleghorn is also PreRunner friendly if you stay on the main trail. I've done quite a few of the bypasses in my locked PreRunner and made it just fine. :)

    You're from Santa Ana, why not go to Main Divide. That is super close and pretty easy.
