*Not starting shit. 5 lug owner of 6 years. Just giving my opinion*

I hate to say it fellas, but putting the effort into a 5 lug, just isin't worth it. You should all know I talk from experience at this point. You do all this stuff, spend all this money to lift your 5 lug and at the end of the day, you still really can't do shit. Might be able to hit the dez with it, but it doesn't work to well for the east coast crowd.

Spent gobs on my 5 lug. Just to have it sit and do the same crap it would have done, not lifted. Sure I did some things to make folks say "that's a 5 lug?" but....truck still sat at camp when the real wheeling happened.

I gave up a lot of neat custom stuff when I traded in my 5 lug on my 4x4. Would do it all over in a heartbeat though.

From 5 lug to 4Lo. Same body. Completely different truck.

    There is nothing like it.

ABSOLUTELY PLEASE EMAIL TO ME ALSO IF YOU CAN - PM ME FOR EMAIL ADDRESS?

I really wanted to get the stock specs on the rear components as I'm about to do the shackle flip

On one hand you're correct, but on the other, you sound like a snowflake milennial. Yes, It will be extremely expensive to build your 5 lugger, and it will be completely custom. They were not intended for these purposes so you literally have to modify everything and commit to turning your 5 lugger in to a baja truck that won't be street legal. Don't start the journey if you aren't prepared.

We all do what we do individually, for many and various different reasons.

'Wheeling' isn't in my personal lexicon. For @5luggertaco - perhaps it's about the 'wheeling' - or it could be that it's as much about the project, as it is the results. Some people do start off with a budget, and try to stay within reasonable range. Sometimes that means starting off with a budget truck.

A 5-lug MT or LT kit makes absolutely no sense here in my patch of Ontario, Canada... neither do built 4x4's, for that matter. No place to use them beyond mud-bogging a farmer's field and pissing him off - go 300-500km north routinely, where logging roads and hydro right of ways/fire breaks be, and both would make perfect sense.

I'll be the first to say that i've spent stupid-silly amounts of time and resources on my own 5-lug - I had my own reasons, that have since been validated, for what i spent. A part of my truck 'build' decision was that I certainly wouldn't have embarked on the process, if i was not intending to keep the truck long-term. That's a recipe for a poor return on investment into a project. If i was traveling up north routinely - then a MT or LT kit would/could also be in consideration. Until then, the usual budget lift/level kit does me just fine - I'm not planning on changing my recreational habits any time soon.

While it would have been ideal to start off with a 4x4 just for bragging rights.. I personally was looking for a replacement vehicle on a relative budget, to get me closer to retirement... not wheeling. That i did things to it, that no 5-lug should have done in a project, was as much about keeping myself busy, as much as changing the truck to my needs.. I don't really expect other people to understand what i did/do with my own project.. just reasons. Again, my point of the whole ramble above.. Everyone has their own reasons for doing things.

I would hope that 5luggertaco has considered his own reasons for the project, and deemed it worthwhile. In the end, it's his truck.

I respect your opinion, and you do have valid points - you've informed him well, if perhaps arbitrarily.

To a large degree, i do agree with you .. but not sure that i would go so extreme as to call an MT/LT kitted truck a full-on, non-street legal Baja truck by default .. but i don't 'wheel'.. that's obviously just my own biased opinion speaking.

Don't get called a snowflake to often. Pretty offended on that topic. Musta pushed a button. Eh well.

Talkin' from experience. Idk. Knew my truck wouldn't do much. Still did shit. Still modded. Still tried to wheel.
