I've been looking for a v8 for under $15k for months now but they're essentially unicorns if they're not rusted out. Anybody else have a similar experience in trying to find one?

Now is about the worst time to be shopping for a vehicle, especially one with a bulletproof hell and back reputation of reliability.

4Runners, especially the rarer V8's, hold their value very well.

My Uncle purchased one back in May for a couple grand but it needed quite a bit of work, high miles, neglected, several owners, and at least one accident.

Rust free though and you can't hardly kill a 2U.

Only picture I have, the white Tundra has I think 500k plus miles on it now? I think I've done time timing belt on it twice now.

I’ve seen a lot near me recently for some reason. I found a earlier one with 224k for $3,700.

I'll have to look down there. Frame rust isn't very common for cars in Tennessee is it?

Frame rust is hit or miss here. You can either have a completely rust free car or one so rusty you can stick your hand through the frame. It depends where your looking, but for the most part you can find some pretty clean ones here. I often see many in west North Carolina near Asheville, and a lot in Knoxville.

here is a pretty good deal. https://asheville.craigslist.org/cto/d/hazelwood-2003-toyota-4runner-sr5-sport/7369710924.html

Thanks for sending man! Yeah this looks like it's in good enough shape. I figured the v8s wouldn't be easy to find but they're proving harder than I thought. I'm in VA but willing to travel anywhere but California...I'd imagine Tennessee/North Cacalacka is a significant difference in snow than even Virginia. Thanks again

Just bought a 2004 sport v8 with 89k miles on it zero rust and love it. Good luck with your search.

It took me 3 months of looking last year to find one with a decent frame and no accidents. Found a 2007 4WD Limited with 127k for $16k. Was a little more than I wanted to pay but after looking for 3 months and this one being in the best condition I had seen I was happy to pay that price.

A lot of the time I would find one online that had just been listed and by the time I called it had been sold sight unseen. The one that I did buy didn't even have pictures on the listing because they hadn't had a chance to detail it yet. I told them I didn't care, just email me some.

Edit: Not sure how much research you've done but the earlier models did not have SAIS which is a huge bonus. I didn't realize that when I bought my 07 but preferred the look of the later 4th gens.
