Yup. Less chance of rubbing with larger tires if you lift first. Also, if you DO rub and trim before lift you may trim the wrong areas as those places may not rub after the lift.

    Do your lift first.

This is the lift I plan on running. From all my research its the best lift for both on and off road use.

    OME 885 Coils - $156
    Bilstien 5100 Front Shocks - $169
    OME Rear Shocks $179
    Total Chaos UCAs - $619
    Wheelers 1" AAL - $77*
    Total Cost: $1,200

You don't HAVE to have the UCAs. But your truck will ride better and hold an alignment.

    * I am going with a Alcan Leaf pack, but for you an AAL should be just fine because you don't already have upgraded leafs.

All info/prices come from For tires, BFG A/T or Nitto Terra Grappler are awesome. Are you keeping the OEM wheels?

The Silent Armors are great tires. Unless you're crawling rocks or diving into mud, you won't be disappointed.

    This is mud:

    (great pic, toyoman!)

If you take a 2wd into something like this, they no, you won't be happy with those tires.

Otherwise, they're actually quite good. Dirt, soft sand, pavement, rain, snow -- I've run 'em and was very pleased with how they performed. They wore evenly too.

I don't think it'll matter WHAT tires he has if he goes in mud like that! Nothing short of a buddy with a winch or recovery strap is gonna get him out!

If you run into that with 2wd, your ass better be doing 30mph otherwise your just gonna bog down and have a hell of a time recovering.

I've been staying out of the mud more lately as a result. Thinking about saving up for an older Wrangler or Taco to use as a trail rig. Since I plan on keeping this Taco until it dies or their is a diesel or SFA Taco available new.
