So I had originally ordered just billy 5100s to install on my Tacoma. After removing my struts and seeing how bad of shape all the components were, I decided to change my plan. Im planning to order from ToyTec. I wanted to go with the Eibachs, but after reading all of Sloth and Blackdawgs posts urging not to do this with no additional front weight, I've come up with the following.
I plan to put bilstein 5100s with OME 881s in the front. I also plan to install a 1.5 block kit on the back. How much should this level a first generation double cab? I want a fairly level truck, and have no armor or aftermarket bumpers on the front. I also fear the cv leaks, thus not going with the Eibach coils. Do I need the front differential drop kit? Longer brake lines? Is this a solid plan? If you disagree with the rear blocks and suggest an add a leaf, should 1.5" AAL level out with the 5100s on 881s?
Thanks for any help you may be.

    1. I think you have some confusion. "Diff boots"? I think you might be referring to your cv axles?

    2. Good call on the 5100 paired with the ome 881. That should work well.

    3. No need for a Diff drop kit. They make no significant change.

    4. Definitely stay away from a rear block lift. (Junk) much better ride with an AAL. 1.5" will get you very close to "level " paired with your front set-up.

Also if your cv axle boots are ripped and leaking grease, Napa has some decent replacements with a full lifetime warranty. Oem are best but if you don't really wheel your truck or anything Napa cv's will work fine.

I recently did 5100's with 881's and a AAL and am happy with it, also I did not need the extended brake line.

It looks great. How big is your rim/tire setup?

265/75/16, she's getting there just waiting for front and rear bumpers to get here and then next month I'll probably order some sliders.

FYI any block lift is worth staying away from. far.

Just found this thread. I have an 02' 3.4 v6 ext. cab. Just got bilstein 4600 for front and back. Already put back ones on and wanted to get new coils and bushings before installing fronts. Will ome 880 work with the bilstein? The website says no and can't talk to anyone until Monday

Also if I lift my front 1.5-2" do I need new control arms?

I have OME 880s without Billys (Rough Country shocks). They'll work fine - No need for new control arms.

Our rear springs are too weak for lift blocks and can cause axle wrap. Adding a block gives the axle leaverage against the leaf pack under acceleration.

Add a leaf kits are around $80 or $150 for the really good progressive setups.

The 880s lifted the front about 1.5". I also did new shocks/5 leaf springs in the rear for about a 2" lift there. Need the longer break line and proportioning valve extension i the rear. I have the 2.7L 4 cyl, so your's may vary.
