    Another one for the books.

That balljoint appears to be dry. Were the boots ripped or was there really no grease in them?

Im not familiar with the brand but other aftermarket balljoints ive seen have a spot for a grease fitting that is plugged with a little bolt. Was the fitting installed and grease added before installation?

Dang that sucks. Glad nobody was hurt. Doesn't look like there was any significant damage to the truck either.

Glad you're okay, ball joint failure is no joke. I just had mine replaced about a month ago, went through Toyota though (warranty). I abuse the crap out of them and so far so good *knock on wood*

dang that sucks, glad no one got hurt

i did my balljoints when i first bought my truck and went with OEM toyota parts. It was stupid though, dealers here in calgary wanted over $300 PER lower balljoint, i was looking at about $1000 just for parts for upper and lower joints both sides it was ridiculous. I ended up ordering online through toyota of dallas from the states, even after shipping, exchange rate, and border fees it was still half the price of buying locally. of course our dollar is shitty now still but might be worth looking into replacements, i just couldn't trust aftermarket lowers for these tacomas

Do boot slide mod or get high angle boots.

Wsa the joint show signs of worn out and metal getting thin or did it just tear through the metal?

I did my ball joints about 1.5 years ago. There are threads that detail early failure of different brands of lower Ball joints such as moog. From what I remember everyones advice to was to go with OEM lower and upper ball joints. YMMV, good luck with repairs.

Another reason to go Toyota for ball joints.

It might cost more up front but till one figures the cost of a failure driving down the road even a simple one they are cheaper in the long run

Gosh, yeah with these stinkin ball joints it really is kinda OEM or bust...literally!!

Shoot pry woulda been better off stickin with the old toyota ones, lol, kidding. I really hate how those were designed, seems pretty silly to me to have all your front end weight on a tiny ass ball that just has to pop out of its lil cup er whatever ya wanna call it and end up ripping the shit outta stuff if not the whole vehicle in the case of a massive roll over or something like that...

I believe I read another thread from you that you had lower ball joints broken before . So you put new ones yourself and it brakes again.
Maybe the problem isn't the bjs.
Do you have big tires, lift , spacers or go off road frequently?
Did you replace your old shocks/ struts together with bjs first time?
First time that happened were the ball joints OEM ?

The only issue I had with the ball joint was stripped bolt holding it to the knuckle.
The ones before were stock Toyota and they had a little play so I changed them to be safe.
The bilsteins went in the truck years ago, it's lifted and has 33's on it.
The ball joint was completely dry and just popped out. I'm curious how I can grease the rest of them now.
I got a new lower ball joint and a new cv axle. So I'm gonna start tearing it apart.

I heard mevotec does not make good quality bjs, and I am sure oem is the best way to go, but maybe lift and big tires have been too hardon both bjs, braking the bolt in the first one and happening this to the second one.
I am no mechanic, but would like the opinion of the specialists from TW. I have moog 555 bjs, tie rods and strut assembly. They still look good and without any issuesafter 20k miles.
I am sure a lot of people out there have aftermarket bjs, and I don't see them all braking down.
Maybe you should replace both bjs my friend
