With no load the lighter Tacoma does a far better job in field than my 3/4 ton. The problem happens when I need to carry a 1000 L (EDIT liters not US gallons) tote full of fertilizer along for the ride. Then I need the 3/4 ton lol.

My point was that if you are buying a half ton to run around with loads all the time you are going to wear out the truck pretty quickly, boxed frame or not. That's been my experience.

I also can't keep this damn Ram 2500 out of the shop lol. I wish I was allowed to get an F250 instead but fleet ordering was tight when I put in my order so I was thankful for what I was given.

No, I asked on the Facebook page and I got a reply. Said specs would be announced closer to launch. Basically was what I was expecting them to say.

    True.

Buy the tool needed for the job.

The Japanese trucks do hold up better in the rest of the World though. Too bad we don't the LC70's....they beat the shit out of those things, and they keep on going. They are being phased out because they can't meet the new 5 star safety standards.

My bud is very impressed the new Ranger, said it blows the doors off the HiLux.

You couldn't give a Ram, I was considering the EcoDiesel...I just can't pull the trigger. Some reason I never have liked Chrysler products.

I don't legitimately need a truck either, but it sure is nice to be able to throw the kayak or mountain bike in the back, carry something big home, tow the occasional trailer of firewood, drive home at 2 AM on steep unplowed roads without a worry, etc.

I also like sitting high--I get so frustrated when I can't see over/around the vehicle in front of me. That happens much more in a car than it does in a Tacoma with a 2" lift.

Oh, I dunno. *Need* is a pretty subjective term here. I think most folks want or need a truck for the very same reasons. After lugging snowboarding gear in the winter and then some shooting gear around in summer (shooting steel + frame, box of hard drives, etc), I felt I needed a truck, too. The added ground clearance, and additional weight for driving in the show are just icing on the cake for me. Nearly every reason being listed isn't a function or task that would be greatly compromised by dropping from a 4.0 liter to a 3.5 liter engine, either.

That article cites word for word the phrase used by the Toyota Canada website. Not really a new source, just repetition.

The article is also so badly written that it suggests Tacoma buyers will have an option of a six speed manual or a new six speed manual lol.

You guys need to realize that Toyota Canada is indeed Toyota. Whoever wrote that response is probably just uninformed that it is on their site. 270 is likely the #.

So, I guess the photos of the red DCLB are photoshopped because they premiered on the Toyota Canada website? lol....

It was @OZ-T talking about @tacosupreme17. @tacosupreme17 was at the bass pro shops event, as quoted here from the Canada BS thread:

So the 3.5 is powerful enough to drive around parking lot. That's a good sign.
