I appreciate it when people post a link to back up their statements. But that website you posted seems to be less then 100% accurate.
1st of all it has a pic of a Colorado on the top of the page, second it keeps on talking about a diesel engine that isn't coming out. If Toyota does bring out a Diesel for the Tacoma it will not be the Cummins V8 Diesel that it says on the website. It will most likely be the new 4 cylinder diesel that they have just developed. Maybe in a year or 2 if the GM twins sell a lot of Diesels Toyota will bring one out too.

Thats why I posted that link as an example of garbage fake info, which is what I Don't want to see on this forum...
Which seems to be creeping on Tacomaworld more and more.

NP I added "fake info" tag to it so people dont think this is true... (I wish it was true, but its not) :)

You should have a built in ignore function :D

Official numbers are released on the 17th, unsubbed until then.

So you're kinda describing Toyota as a follower, and not a leader.

Can't argue with that :D. Yeah, sounds like the rumours of a big media event last month were correct and now the media knows all the numbers but there is a gag order until the 17th.

That is hyperbole (not meaning to be taken literally), but if they changed the material composition/metallurgy of various components, even if the dimensions/attachment points remained the same, in my opinion such a statementis technically valid. Theoretical Example: front cross-member widget is exactly the same, except it is now made out of unobtanium. It is "new" because the composition is different...weight, strength, rigidity, flexibility/brittleness, heat resistance, environmental resistance, etc. It is not the same part as the one from the previous gen, even if it looks the same.

Toyota is a follower, except on hybrid technology. Do they come up with really advanced and even better implementations of certain technologies? Sure. However, they rarely come up with the idea or first implementation.

Im sure there will be a lot of "leaks" like we've already seen. Either way, waiting till the 17th before butting any emotion into this thing.

There is a brand new Diesel engine just introduced by Toyota. I'm sure that if they wanted too they could out into the Tacoma. It would cost some them some money but still doable. If the Colorado turns out to be a sales dud, GM would have spent a lot of money introducing a engine that no one is actually buying. And that would say that the market is not willing to buy enough to warrant putting out a Diesel in the midsize market.
I do believe Toyota should put out the new Diesel into the Tacoma. I would be interested in buying one. I tend to keep Vehicles for a long time and the extra purchase price will offset itself for me at least.
I also think that the new toyota diesel is a better motor then the new duramax.
Yes, I think Toyota is following on the Diesel engine.

I think one of the things I really like that Toyota did was with the 5.7 when it first came out. Dodge was running the Hemi commercials(that thing got a Hemi?) and Toyota slapped a 5.7 in the Tundra with 381hp. At the time, the Hemi was 345hp. That was nice.

Would be nice if they updated that engine and transmission.

Makes you wonder if the Tundra is going to die off Ranger style.

I think they better do something, because with the new Duramax in the GM and especially the upcoming Frontier very likely getting the 2.8 Cummins, they may be a few years late getting to the party.

No doubt. Great engine. But it has not evolved at all. It's mind boggling the way they've just kept it the same, all the while with some of the very worst mpg figures. And no CrewMax 6.5' box...
